NASHVILLE (AP) — The Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee has raised enough donations in cash and food to provide six million meals. That's a lot, but the nonprofit's goal is to have enough for 10 million meals before Dec. 31 as part of its Feeding Hope Challenge.

The 10 million goal is the largest in the charity's history. But Second Harvest leaders say they set the bar high because the need is great.

Second Harvest provides food to about 400 nonprofit partners in 46 counties in Middle and West Tennessee. Partners include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, childcare facilities, senior centers, group homes and youth programs.

For every dollar donated, Second Harvest can provide four meals to a hungry person.
