Odom's processing plant to close in Little Rock

Print | Front Page | Email this story

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — ConAgra Foods Inc. says it will close a pork-processing plant in Little Rock next year, putting more than 200 people out of work.

Employees at Odom's Tennessee Pride processing plant were told last week that the facility will close in late spring 2013. Spokesman Daniel Hare tells the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (http://is.gd/OZI7ne) that 240 people work at the plant on Asher Avenue in Little Rock.

Nebraska-based ConAgra bought Odom's Tennessee Pride this spring. The company also owns Odom's facilities in Dickson, Tenn., and Madison, Tenn. Hare says those facilities will continue to operate.

Odom's was the nation's second-largest producer of frozen breakfast sandwiches at the time of the acquisition.

A spokesman says the Arkansas Economic Development Commission will decide what to do with the 110,000-square-foot plant once it closes.
