3-day event to benefit homeless veterans
NASHVILLE (AP) — A three-day event to benefit Middle Tennessee's homeless veterans will be held Friday and over the weekend.
The 20th annual Operation Stand Down event will be held in the gymnasium of the former Tennessee Preparatory School in Nashville and will provide outreach, information and social services to veterans.
More than 125 government agencies, businesses and community and veteran service organizations are scheduled to participate.
Last year, organizers say the event assisted nearly 270 homeless veterans with medical screenings, immunizations, legal assistance, clothing, meals and other services.
More than 700 volunteers help make the event possible.
