Since 1999, nearly 74,000 acres of land in Tennessee has been protected through the Land Trust of Tennessee.

Key focal regions have included Civil War sites, Leiper’s Fork, the Natchez Trace, Beech Creek Valley and working farms. The following were added in 2011:

• Six working farms, including one that has been owned by the same family for more than 100 years.
• 110 acres in Grundy County for expansion of Savage Gulf State Park
• 32 acres of wetlands and bird habitat near Chattanooga
• 13 acres of virgin forest with National Natural Landmark designation in downtown Bolivar, Hardeman County in partnership with The Conservation Fund
• 360 acres of wildlife habitat on the Caney Fork River in Smith County
• Two acres of historic land in partnership with the Battle of Nashville Preservation Society
• Seven urban properties in the West Meade neighborhood of Nashville
• 40 acres of historic land adjacent to Carnton Plantation in Franklin
