TriStar Centennial CEO Thomas Herron, FACHE, will retire from TriStar Health and HCA after 44 years of service in the health care industry.

Since assuming the role of CEO at TriStar Centennial in 2006, Herron has overseen and led his team through a major expansion of the medical center’s services while upgrading its facilities.

TriStar Centennial enhancements under Herron’s leadership include 71 new licensed beds, renovation of the TriStar Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, expansion of the women’s and children’s service lines at the recently renamed TriStar Centennial Women’s & Children’s hospital, and opening of the Heart & Vascular Center.

TriStar Ashland City achieved accreditation by The Joint Commission, and construction is under way on the long-awaited TriStar ER in Spring Hill.

Herron’s retirement is effective Dec.31.

VUMC’s Groomes takes interim Stallworth post

Thomas Groomes, M.D., has been named interim medical director of Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital.

He has been a member of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center faculty for 18 years and has served as medical director for the Spinal Cord Injury Program and as program director for the Traumatic Brain Injury Program at Stallworth.

Groomes earned his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 1983 and his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis, in 1987. He completed his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.

He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, with a sub-specialty in spinal cord injury medicine.

Groomes succeeds David Robertson (Bob) Coxe, M.D., Stallworth medical director since 2001.

Downtown Lions name new officers

The 92nd anniversary of the Downtown Nashville Lion’s Club has been celebrated with the announcement of new officers for 2012/13. They are:

ReviveHealth hires Gooden as Nashville VP

Kristi Gooden, a 15-year veteran in the public relations and corporate communication industry, has joined the Nashville office of ReviveHealth. This addition marks the first of several hires for ReviveHealth in the company’s Nashville headquarters office.

Prior to joining ReviveHealth, Kristi was the public relations and media relations director for Saint Thomas Health in Nashville, where she was responsible for developing public relations plans to promote the five-hospital health system, its affiliated networks, centers, physician practices and approaches to medical homes and wellness.

Cabedge promotes pair to director positions

Cabedge Design, LLC, a web-centric design and alignment marketing firm and an Atiba Company, has announced two team leaders. Matthew Rogers, who joined Cabedge’s strategic design team in May, has been elevated to creative director, and Allen Willis, a longtime member of the Atiba family who joined Cabedge in March, will lead Cabedge’s organic search, social media and digital marketing client offerings as marketing services director.

Rogers, an artist, strategist and creator, will provide creative direction to Cabedge’s team of graphic designers and information architects as he evaluates and realigns brands, recognizes opportunities to maximize creative strategy in mobile and interface design, and user experience. He was partner, principal and creative director of Franklin-based marketing firm Primarily Rye. Previously, he was partner, co-creator and creative director of Digigraph Design in Nashville.

Willis, a business strategist with experience in web project management, organic search and social media marketing, will now lead the organization’s team of content strategists in offering full service marketing plans and implementation to clients interested in growing their web traffic and creating online communities of brand advocates.

Haulter joins CBRE as program manager

Fiona Haulter, PE, LEED AP, has joined the Nashville office of CBRE as program manager for the company’s Global Client Services / Global Change Management program.

Haulter has more than 10 years of experience related to commercial real estate development planning, land planning, urban design and construction, working with private and public clients. In her new role, Haulter will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams as they implement outsourcing solutions for CBRE’s corporate clients.

Haulter was recently named a Nashville Emerging Leader Award winner in the category of architecture, engineering and construction. Earlier this year, she was named the 2012 Developing Leader of the Year in the non-broker category by the Middle Tennessee Chapter of NAIOP.

She currently is a member of the Urban Land Institute, International Council of Shopping Centers, Tennessee Economic Development Council, and Nashville Women’s Political Collaboration.

Promotions, new hires at Barge Waggoner

Paula Harris, CPSM, has been promoted to executive vice president and elected corporate secretary at architecture and engineering firm Barge, Waggoner, Sumner, and Cannon, Inc.

Harris, who is the firm’s chief marketing officer, was previously vice president at the firm. She has been associated with Barge Waggoner since 2001 and been a board member since 2006. Harris is an active member in numerous professional and civic organizations including Leadership Franklin, Franklin Tomorrow, the Society for Marketing Professional Services, and Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee. She is a 1982 graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in engineering science.

Kim Sumner Hardin, AIA, has been promoted to vice president and elected corporate treasurer.

Hardin began working in part-time positions at Barge Waggoner more than 40 years ago while a student. She joined the firm in a full-time position in 1982. Hardin holds a bachelor of environmental design in architecture from North Carolina State University (1977), a master of architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (1980), and an MBA in finance from Vanderbilt University (1982).

Michael A. Abt, PE, has joined the firm as manager of project services for the Industrial and Building Services business unit. Abt will lead project execution and performance, the project management team, and further development and implementation of project improvement initiatives.

Abt, who has more than 30 years of industrial and process engineering experience, was previously a project manager at Gresham Smith and Partners. He has also served as project manager for CH2M Hill/Lockwood Greene architecture/engineering firm. Early in his career, Abt was associated with Barge Waggoner as a structural engineer.

Randy Smith, PE, and Michael B. Vincent, NCARB, have joined the firm, Smith as a senior mechanical engineer and Vincent is a senior architect. Both work with the firm’s Industrial and Building Services group.

Smith most recently worked as an independent mechanical engineering contractor. Previously, he was associated with SSOE, Inc. where he was a Senior Mechanical Engineer.

Vincent previously provided contract architectural services for Gobbell Hays Partners, Inc.

Greg Rhinehart has joined the firm in the Energy and Environment Services group as a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and CAD Specialist.

Rhinehart comes to Barge Waggoner from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, where he served as a Cartographic Technician and later as a Cartographer.
