Teacher licensing standards being revised in Tennessee

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Department of Education is revising teacher licensing standards.

Details will be announced Thursday evening in Nashville by State Board of Education representatives and review teams of educators.

A news release from the department said the revisions will be done in partnership with the state board, the Educational Testing Service and the review teams consisting of teachers, district administrators and higher education faculty.

The release said the department recognizes the need to set rigorous expectations for teacher preparation and licensing.
