WGBH Boston acquires Public Radio International
BOSTON (AP) — Public Radio International says it has been acquired by Boston media station WGBH.
Minneapolis-based PRI is the national content producer, network and service provider for public radio. A statement put out by the two companies Thursday says they will "pursue a shared vision for developing and funding" content for public media.
It says PRI will continue to operate independently as a tax-exempt nonprofit in Minneapolis.
WGBH is known for producing such public television shows as "Nova" and "Frontline."
Financial details of the acquisition were not immediately available.
