Boeing lands $7.2B firm order with Air Lease
The Associated Press
Boeing says it has landed a firm order with Air Lease for 75 of its redesigned 737, worth $7.2 billion at list prices.
Aircraft purchasers rarely pay full price, but the order represents a huge win for Boeing at the opening of the Farnborough International Airshow near London this week. It's the first order for the new 737, which Boeing calls the Max, by a leasing company.
So far, Boeing has secured orders and commitments for more than 1,000 of the airplanes.
Air Lease Corp., which buys planes and leases them to airlines, is based in Los Angeles. Boeing Co. is based in Chicago.
