NASHVILLE (AP) — Two new exhibitions open Sunday at the Tennessee State Museum in Nashville.

"African Art: The Collection of Jon Draud" is a display of approximately 150 objects on loan from a private collection. Draud, a Nashville psychiatrist, has documented and collected art and artifacts from the African continent for many years.

"Helen LaFrance: Folk Art Memories" is a collection of 29 paintings by self-taught artist Helen LaFrance, a native of Graves County, Ky. Her paintings portray scenes of Southern farm images such as farmers plowing in the field, church picnics, cotton fields and river baptisms.

Both exhibits are free and run through Aug. 12.
