Belmont developing program in motion pictures
NASHVILLE (AP) — They already make music in Nashville. Now, Belmont University will be promoting another art form: motion pictures.
The school will offer a new undergraduate degree program in fall 2013 involving the study of cinematography, screenwriting, film production and related subjects. The program is being developed by Will Akers, a screenwriter.
Belmont Provost Thomas Burns said the new motion pictures major is part of the university's commitment to the development of the entertainment industry.
State officials have said they are working to cultivate an entertainment sector through the Tennessee Film, Entertainment and Music Commission.
