Ingram Barge Company has named Crystal Taylor senior vice president and controller.

She joined Ingram in 1993 as a staff accountant at Ingram Book Company. She transferred to Ingram’s marine group in 2003 as director of financial projects and was named vice president for finance and accounting in 2011. She will succeed Al Oldham, who is retiring. Oldham joined Ingram Barge Company in December 1989 and was promoted to senior vice president and controller in 2002.

Taylor has a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Tennessee Tech University and an MBA from Belmont University. She is a certified public accountant and has completed the Scarlett Institute leadership program for executives.

Cabedge names new managing director

Cabedge Design LLC, a subsidiary of Atiba Software LLC, has announced Paul Hickey as its new managing director. Hickey will be responsible for daily operations of the web design company.

Hickey initially joined Atiba as director of marketing and project manager in 2011. He came to the company from Columbia State Community College where he was director of marketing and public relations. Since 2006, Hickey has also been involved in the highly competitive world of fantasy football – founding and promoting a popular subscriber-based website as well as serving as a contributing writer to many national sports sites and publications. He began his marketing career with Palace Sports & Entertainment, working with the NBA’s Detroit Pistons, WNBA’s Detroit Shock and the Pistons Palace Foundation.

TVA, iostudio compete for Freedom Award

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, has announced iostudio of Nashville and Tennessee Valley Authority of Knoxville as finalists for the 2012 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.

The Freedom Award is the DoD’s highest recognition given to employers for exceptional support of Guard and Reserve employees. A review board comprised of military and civilian leaders selected 30 finalists from the 3,236 nominations received earlier this year from Guard and Reserve service members, or family members acting on their behalf.

Marketing firm iostudio, nominated by an Army National Guard employee, supports their Guard and Reserve members by sending care packages to deployed employees throughout the year with notes of thanks, messages from family, and items to remind them of home. Of the agency’s 200 staff members, 115 are in the Guard or Reserve, or are veterans, and iostudio gives military hiring preference.

Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), nominated by an Army Reserve employee, sent 4,000 care packages to service members overseas. TVA supports its Guard and Reserve employees by training supervisors on military employment and reemployment laws, and posting information about these policies in employee break rooms and company newsletters. The employer also seeks to hire military members through the “Helmets to Hardhats” program, helping service members earn an engineering degree and guaranteeing a job upon graduation.

Paradigm Group hires director of development

Paradigm Group, a full-service employee benefits, retirement services and HR consulting firm, has named Peyton Gibbs director of business development. Gibbs brings experience in business development and health care expertise to the firm.

In his new role, Gibbs will work with clients to help them provide affordable health care and best-in-class retirement programs to their employees. He will also provide comprehensive, customized solutions to help employers and employees fulfill their potential.

Gibbs holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Tennessee Technological University. He received his master’s degree in management and leadership from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

Douso promoted to account supervisor

Melissa Douso has been promoted to account supervisor at Bill Hudson Agency (BHA), a Nashville-based advertising and public relations firm.

Douso joined BHA in 2005 and most recently served as a senior account executive. In her new role, she supervises the agency’s work for McDonald’s Restaurants in Northern Alabama. She is active in several community organizations and is currently co-president of Ad2, the American Advertising Federation Nashville affiliate for advertising professional under the age of 32.

Black named senior director of philanthropy

The American Red Cross has selected Brenda Black as its new senior director of philanthropy for the Tennessee Volunteer Region.

Black has worked most recently as the director of community development for The Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Prior to that role, she served as director of the Iroquois Steeplechase. A graduate of The University of Alabama, Black has also worked other non-profit organizations such as the Make-a-Wish Foundation, The American Lung Association of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Esterhay joins Regions as trust manager

Regions Bank has announced the hiring of industry veteran Carl Esterhay, JD, to the position of Institutional Trust Market Manager for Middle and East Tennessee, a region that includes Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga.

In his new position, Esterhay will manage a team of trust officers and employees in Middle and East Tennessee who are responsible for setting up and administering trust accounts, and retaining and developing client relationships.

Throughout his 25-year career, Esterhay has held market manager and business development positions in institutional investments, endowments, foundations, retirement services, and wealth management. Prior to joining Regions, Esterhay most recently served as Institutional Trust Regional Market Manager for Wells Fargo in Los Angeles, Calif.

Ferrell, Sullivan join First Freedom Bank

Two experienced financial professionals have joined First Freedom Bank.

Shelia Ferrell, who has 22 years of experience in the banking industry, joins First Freedom as vice president/relationship manager. Heather Turnbull Sullivan, who has more than five years of rural and residential lending experience, joins First Freedom in loan operations.

As vice president/relationship manager, Shelia Ferrell will be responsible for loan portfolio management as well as new loan and deposit production. She was previously a commercial lender at Capital Bank in Carthage. She spent 17 years at Cumberland Bank as an executive vice president, commercial lender.

A Lebanon native, Heather Sullivan previously worked at Farm Credit Services of Mid America in Shelbyville.

McCutcheon named LCLD Fellow for 2012

Alonda W. McCutcheon of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC has been selected for the 2012 Fellows Program of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), a national organization of corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners dedicated to creating a truly diverse legal profession.

LCLD, created in 2009, has developed several innovative programs to address “pipeline” issues that face the profession, encouraging minorities and women to enter the law and supplying programs to increase their likelihood of success in law school and beyond. Bass, Berry & Sims joined LCLD in 2010.

McCutcheon joins the second annual class of 134 attorneys from around the country who have been selected as LCLD Fellows. The Fellow’s Program is an ambitious, highly structured mentoring program that is designed to increase diversity at the leadership levels of the nation’s law firms and corporate legal departments.

Firstbank hires new information officer

Greg Schaffer has joined FirstBank’s risk management team as an information security officer. In his new position, Schaffer will play an important role in developing and implementing the bank’s information security strategy and will also assist customers through community outreach initiatives.

Schaffer comes to FirstBank with more than 20 years of information technology experience, most recently serving as Metro Nashville’s chief information security officer. In addition, he holds a master’s degree in information systems and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional. Schaffer, who has done extensive freelance writing on information security and other related topics, is active in several industry groups, among them Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC).

Crosslin Technologies adds security analyst

Crosslin Technologies, LLC, a regional information technology firm and sister company of Crosslin & Associates, P.C., has added a security analyst to their growing team.

Otis H. Bishop III joins the Crosslin Technologies team having amassed more than eight years of information technology and security experience. Bishop was one of only two part-time contracted technicians selected to represent Dell in the Florida and Middle Tennessee regions. In this capacity, he performed data migration management, and implementation of IP networks and security solutions for existing clients.

Bishop holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science from ITT Technical Institute where he was the salutatorian of his class and was recognized for academic excellence and highest honors. He is a member of the Nashville Technology Council.

Centennial names VP of clinical operations

Joseph Mazzo, registered nurse and certified emergency nurse, has been promoted to the position of vice president of clinical operations for TriStar Centennial Medical Center.

Mazzo began his career at Centennial as director of emergency department services in September 2009. His responsibilities also included the medical surgical intensive care unit, telemetry and respiratory therapy the past two years.

Mazzo received a Bachelor’s Degree is in Nursing from Queens College in Charlotte, N.C., and a Master’s Degree from Columbia University in New York. He is a Certified Emergency Nurse and a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the honor society for professional nursing.

Omary is new chair of Vanderbilt Radiology

Reed Omary, M.D., M.S., professor of radiology and biomedical engineering and vice chair of research for the Department of Radiology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, has been named chair of Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences.

He will assume the role in the fall.
