State reprimands Davidson County election official
NASHVILLE (AP) - State election officials have reprimanded the Davidson County election coordinator for failing to open polls on one day during early voting.
According to The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/K1CDwk ), the State Election Commission formally reprimanded Albert Tieche on Monday, but declined to pursue further discipline against him.
The local election commission had scheduled the polls open on Feb. 18 - the first Saturday during the early voting period for the March 6 presidential primary - but Tieche did not open them on that day.
Tieche apologized and said he mistakenly believed state law required early voting on only one Saturday.
