Baptist Hospital has announced its medical staff officers and department and division chiefs for 2012.

Baptist Hospital medical staff officers for 2012 include Dr. Robert M. Hutton as chief of staff; Dr. Mark D. Peacock as vice chief of staff; Dr. Steven H. Tai as president and secretary/treasurer.

The 2012 department chiefs include:

United Way’s Pope assumes new role

Ginny Pope has been promoted to senior account manager, Business Development & Campaign Optimization for United Way of Metropolitan Nashville.

In her new role, Pope will focus on key account portfolio management and lead the United Way team to optimize campaign growth as well as to co-develop new business strategies to help the organization expand into critical markets.

Pope also oversees United Way’s Sennet Society in Nashville. Composed of young professionals between the ages of 25-45, members of the Sennet Society invest a minimum of $500 annually as well as donate their time and professional skills to make the Nashville community a better place to live by providing support to United Way’s key focus areas of education, financial stability and health.

Pope joined United Way as an account manager in March of 2011.

Spectrum’s Wells named top developing broker

David Wells of Spectrum Properties | Emery, a commercial real estate company providing leasing, property management, development, brokerage services and commercial acquisitions, has been named NAIOP’s Developing Broker of the Year in Nashville.

Wells joined Emery in Nashville in April of 2010, relocating from Spectrum’s Charlotte office. As Director of Leasing at Spectrum Properties | Emery, Wells is responsible for the leasing and marketing of 1.5 million SF of existing Class A office space in the greater Nashville area. Through this Wells formulates and executes strategic marketing campaigns, conceives creative approaches to deals and services the diverse needs of tenants. In 2011, he completely backfilled 250,000 SF of scheduled vacancies with no downtime in rent and in the process improved portfolio occupancy from 88% to 94% by the end of the year.

Wells, who will also be responsible for the marketing and leasing of upcoming developments in the Cool Springs and Gulch submarkets, is a native of Winston-Salem, NC and earned his undergraduate degree in advertising and public relations from The University of Tennessee.

Korbey joins Emma as creative director

Chris Korbey has joined email marketing and online communications firm Emma, Inc. as creative director, company leadership announced today.

Building on Emma’s tradition of strong design, Korbey will be responsible for overseeing the brand experience for Emma’s customers and business partners.

Before joining Emma, Korbey founded and worked as creative director for Meat+Bones, a Dallas-based boutique strategic marketing and creative agency. At Meat+Bones he spearheaded all projects for clients, which included Southwest Airlines, Stetson, T-Mobile, PayPal and The Crow Collection of Asian Art, among others.

YWCA names chairs for Women Of Achievement

Grace Awh, community volunteer and former YWCA board member, and Mary Lee Bartlett, community volunteer and past AWA honoree, have been named co-chairwomen for the YWCA of Nashville and Middle Tennessee’s 2012 Academy for Women of Achievement. The 21st annual AWA ceremony is set for October 30 at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville.

The 2012 AWA honorees will be announced following a nominations process, which kicks off on April 1. Nominees include women who are involved in efforts and activities which have made a positive, sustained difference in the community. The nominations process is open to the community, and forms will be available online at ywcanashville.com.

The YWCA’s Academy for Women of Achievement was launched locally in 1992 by the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee. The Academy has sought to honor women who, through excellence and leadership in their chosen fields, serve as role models for other women. This year’s recipients will join 118 other women who hold this distinctive honor.

Barge, Waggoner hires new manager

Philip (Phil) Garcia, Jr., RA, NCARB, has joined engineering and architectural firm Barge, Waggoner, Sumner, and Cannon, Inc., in the Industrial and Building Services group, as the manager of architectural services. In this role, Garcia will manage day-to-day operations of the Architectural Group, assist with business development and marketing efforts, and oversee design services.

Garcia comes to Barge Waggoner from CRB Consulting Engineers, Inc. in Kalamazoo, Mich., where he served as architect/project manager. His prior role was with SSOE where he was a senior account executive. He has 37 years of experience in business development, team management, budgeting and forecasting, and architectural and project management.

DVL hires Waters as staff accountant

DVL Public Relations & Advertising recently announced the addition of Nina Waters as staff accountant.

Waters comes to DVL with a background in corporate and healthcare accounting. Before coming to the agency, she spent two years working in the audit department at LifePoint Hospital. She graduated from Tennessee State University. At DVL her responsibilities will include billing, financial statements, sales taxes and general accounting.

Porter, Schnell join Lifepoint Hospitals

LifePoint Hospitals recently announced the appointment of Paige Porter to the position of senior director, Pharmacy Informatics, and Karla Schnell to the position of senior director, Clinical Informatics.

Both Porter and Schnell will join LifePoint’s Clinical and Business Informatics (CBI) team, which was formed in September 2011 to support the effective transition and adoption of new IT systems at the hospital level, while ensuring improved care delivery and more efficient clinical and business processes.

Porter brings more than 20 years of health care experience to her new role. She most recently served in the company’s Pharmacy Operations/Supply Chain department. Prior to this, she was director of Pharmacy at Georgetown Community Hospital, a LifePoint facility located in Georgetown, Ky. She earned a bachelor of pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky.

Schnell brings to LifePoint Hospitals more than 30 years of health care experience in direct clinical care, clinical and operational consulting, and large electronic health record implementation. Previously, she served The North Highland Company for three years as its national healthcare provider lead, consulting both nationally and globally in the clinical and informatics field. She earned a bachelor of nursing degree from the University of Manitoba.

Perry honored with leadership award

PHG Energy hires national sales manager

PHG Energy, a Tennessee-based alternative energy company, has hired Robert Cox as its national sales manager.

Cox, who graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with degree in resource ecology and environmental science, was most recently the eastern regional sales manager for Pro-Environmental, Inc., with a focus on capital equipment and aftermarket service.

PHG Energy provides equipment and technology that converts recycled waste material or renewable biomass to an economical substitute for natural gas or other fossil fuels.
