Some Occupy Nashville protesters brace for arrest
NASHVILLE (AP) — Some Occupy Nashville protesters are vowing to stay camped out on the grounds of the Capitol complex and face arrest if a law is passed that makes it illegal for them to sleep on the grounds in protest.
The decision came in an emergency meeting Monday afternoon where some protesters vowed to commit civil disobedience if the law is passed. State lawmakers could vote this week on a measure sponsored by Republican Rep. Eric Watson of Cleveland that would stop protesters from sleeping overnight on War Memorial Plaza.
Group members are considering moving the protest outside the Nashville courthouse if the bill passes. They are also considering remaining on the plaza but not sleeping there.
Some 60 tents are now on the plaza. The protests began in October.
