Juvenile court judge gets 3rd censure for conduct
NASHVILLE (AP) — A Dickson juvenile court judge has been censured again, this time for his handling of two contempt cases.
The Court of the Judiciary publicly reprimanded Judge A. Andrew Jackson on Monday.
The disciplinary court said Jackson failed to appoint an attorney for a woman he sentenced to 10 days in jail in 2007 for contempt. In the other case, Jackson didn't appoint a lawyer for a person in contempt for not paying child support and didn't hold a hearing to determine if the person could afford to pay.
The court said Jackson acknowledged he was wrong. A spokeswoman in Jackson's office said he was unavailable for comment Monday afternoon.
The same judge has been reprimanded at least twice since 2007 for drunken conduct and bias toward illegal immigrants.
