Battle of Nashville to be commemorated Saturday
NASHVILLE (AP) - The Battle of Nashville will be commemorated Saturday with a living history encampment at Fort Negley Visitors Center.
As part of the event, a ceremony is scheduled to honor the memory of a fallen drummer boy.
The Dec. 15-16 battle in 1864 was a Union victory. Fort Negley, in 1862, was the largest fortification built by the occupying Union forces. It was restored and reopened in 2004 as a tourist attraction.
