Fisk receives $435K grant for science research
NASHVILLE (AP) — Fisk University of Nashville has received a $435,000 grant for science research.
The historically black university announced Thursday that it got the grant from the National Science Foundation as part of a five-year, $3 million research initiative for a project called "Neutron Scattering for the Science and Engineering of the 21st Century."
The project will focus on the study of condensed matter science, which covers interdisciplinary aspects of physics and biology, as well as chemical and mechanical engineering.
Earlier this week, Fisk announced its accreditation has been reaffirmed but a state board has put it on probation for one year to get its finances in order.
