Nashville's Parthenon has new exhibition

Print | Front Page | Email this story

NASHVILLE (AP) — A new exhibition is on display at Nashville's Parthenon, the world's only full-scale replica of the temple in Athens, Greece.

The exhibit features many rare and seldom seen objects, artifacts and souvenirs from the structure collected over the past 115 years. It also includes props from the film "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," which was filmed in the park surrounding the Parthenon in 2009.

The Parthenon, owned by the city, was first a fine arts building for the 1897 Tennessee Centennial Exposition. It was renovated in 1931 and has been open ever since. Art galleries are inside, helping make it one of Nashville's top tourist attractions.
