Centerstone, the nation’s largest not-for-profit provider of community-based mental health and addiction services, today announced that board chair Lee Ann Ingram and her husband Orrin have been named Philanthropists of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Nashville Chapter. The couple will be honored during the chapter’s annual National Philanthropy Day (NPD) luncheon on Nov. 10 at the Hutton Hotel.

Lee Ann currently serves as chair of the Centerstone of Tennessee Board of Directors. Through donations of time, energy and philanthropy, she and Orrin have seeded Substance Use Intervention programs, the Coaching4Teens program, which helps teens find balance in their lives and map out their goals for a successful future, new buildings and even an outpatient office on Harding Pike to increase Centerstone’s visibility in West Nashville.

In addition to supporting Centerstone, Lee Ann and Orrin support The Center for Youth Issues, Saddle Up!, Friends of Warner Park and Harpeth River Watershed Association, just to name a few.

CapStar Bank adds several to its team

CapStar Bank president and CEO Claire W. Tucker has named the following recent personnel additions and promotions:

T.Y. Gunter has joined CapStar’s Brentwood office as a senior relationship manager focused on commercial real estate lending. Gunter was chief appraiser for the Real Estate Appraisal and Environmental Department at First American National Bank and was most recently a senior CRE lender at First Bank. He is certified by the Appraisal Institute, holds a Certified Commercial Investment Member designation and is a licensed real estate broker.

Justin Gallardo, formerly a loan review specialist in the Division of Supervision and Consumer Protection of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Knoxville, has been hired as commercial real estate portfolio manager. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, he also served as an assistant vice president of Commercial Real Estate at SunTrust in Knoxville prior to his role with the FDIC.

Robert Dolan has been appointed commercial finance portfolio manager for CapStar’s newly created Commercial Finance division. Dolan earned an MBA from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia and has more than nine years of equipment financing experience as a senior credit analyst and portfolio risk analyst.

The bank also has hired Sandi Lanier as senior vice president and chief compliance officer. Lanier previously served as vice president and regional manager of commercial funding at Fifth Third Bank. In her 34 years in banking, Lanier has provided leadership in the areas of lending and loan operations at a number of financial institutions, including Franklin National Bank, First National Bank of Knoxville, Nashville City Bank and Trust and others.

Grady Marks has been promoted to financial service representative in the Green Hills CapStar branch, focusing on the needs of personal banking clients and small businesses. Marks has been with CapStar since its opening on July 14, 2008.

LaKisha Jenkins has joined the staff of CapStar’s downtown branch as a financial service representative. Jenkins was an administrative assistant in the Davidson County Juvenile Court.

Robin Henderson, a private banking specialist who is well-known among professional athletes, will have enhanced concentration in the newly formed Sports Division. He and his clientele will be supported by Stacie Petring, who has served in a variety of roles at CapStar, most notably as founding branch manager for the Brentwood office.

Women surgeons group honors VUSM student

Rajshri Mainthia, a third-year student at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, has been named to receive of the Association of Women Surgeons’ (AWS) Patricia Numann Medical Student Award.

Mainthia was a unanimous selection by the AWS committee. She had spent a year doing research in Otolaryngology with support from the Vanderbilt Medical Scholars Program. The Numann award was established to encourage and support female medical students pursuing a career in surgery.

Mainthia won’t be the only Vanderbilt award recipient at the association’s October annual meeting.

The AWS Past Presidents’ Honorary Member Award will be presented to John Tarpley, M.D., professor of Surgery, assistant chief of Surgical Service and coordinator of the General Surgery Residency, and his wife, Margaret Tarpley, MLS, senior associate in Surgery. This award is given to an individual or individuals who are supportive of the goals of the association.

LBMC Technologies welcomes Wetzel

Wetzel has been added as an OnBase consultant with document and enterprise content management responsibilities. He has nearly three years of experience in health care technology with expertise in software and database development. Prior to joining LBMC Technologies, Wetzel was a software developer with AIM Healthcare. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in computer information systems.

Barge Waggoner tabs new senior manager

David Winter, PG, PMP, CHMM, has joined the Energy and Environment division of Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon, Inc. (BWSC) as senior manager of environmental engineering in the firm’s Nashville office. Winter has 18 years of experience with environmental projects, including remediation, compliance, investigations, disaster response, and construction.

He comes to BWSC from EMR, Inc. in Lawrence, Kansas, where he was chief operating officer. His prior roles at the firm included vice president, regional manager, office manager, project geologist, and staff geologist.

Winter holds a Master of Science degree in Geology from Northern Illinois University (2007) and a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Biology from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire (1991). He is a Professional Geologist (PG) registered in two states.

A native of Wausau, Wisconsin, Winter and wife Melanie live in Brentwood with their three children.

Banking vet joins CapStar’s board

CapStar Bank president and CEO Claire W. Tucker has announced that Dale W. Polley is joining CapStar’s Board of Directors today. Polley serves on the board of directors of O’Charley’s Inc., a registered public restaurant company, and HealthStream, Inc., a registered public health services company, both of which are headquartered in Nashville.

CapStar Board Chair Denny Bottorff complimented Polley as an accomplished leader with a history of making valuable contributions to corporate and community boards.

Polley retired as a vice chairman and member of the board of directors of First American Corporation and First American National Bank in 2000.

Prior to these positions, Polley served in various executive management positions at First American Corporation, including serving as its president from 1997 to 1999. Before joining First American in 1991, he had been group executive vice president and treasurer for C&S/Sovran Corporation, and held various executive positions within Sovran before its merger with C&S. Polley joined Sovran from Commerce Union Bank of Nashville, where he was its executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Polley also serves on the boards of the Nashville Sports Council, the Music City Bowl and Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center.

Abingdon Press hires new publicity manager

Abingdon Press is pleased to announce the addition of Julie Solomon Backman to the marketing team. A New York Times best-selling publicist and skilled public relations and publishing professional, Julie joins Abingdon Press as associate publicity manager and will be responsible for managing overall publicity efforts for Abingdon Press publishing programs.

Backman will manage will focus on relationships, marriage, parenting, personal growth and prayer, ministry resources and Christian life. She will also work with the team on Abingdon Press fiction titles, as well as academic and ministry leadership.

Prior to her start at Abingdon Press, Backman worked for Thomas Nelson Publishing, Inc. as a publicist for the Specialty division. During her tenure with Thomas Nelson, Inc. she spearheaded publicity campaigns and media initiatives for best-selling authors including Max Lucado, Sheila Walsh and Sarah Young.

Affiliated Creditors celebrates 30 years

Affiliated Creditors Incorporated (ACI), founded by Wilson County resident Roy Williams, is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Since its founding in 1981, ACI has focused its services on meeting the needs of health care and medical providers. ACI has been a valuable collections partner to hundreds of medical providers and facilities including Vanderbilt, St. Thomas and Baptist hospitals.

“It is a huge complement that, after three decades in business, our clients have continued to place their trust in ACI and allowed us to not only continue to serve them, but to continue to grow,” said Roy Williams, who retired from the company three years ago.

In 1987, Chad (Roy Jr.) Williams joined ACI as manager of collection operations and client relations. In 2007, Roy Sr. turned the company over to Chad. Under Chad’s leadership, the company has tripled the number of its employees and more than doubled the number of clients.
