Court date set for Rep. Todd's DUI, gun arrest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A Jan. 10 court date has been set to address drunken driving and gun charges against state Rep. Curry Todd. Meanwhile the Collierville Republican is apologizing to friends, family and constituents and pledging to "make a better person of myself."

Todd appeared in a Nashville court Tuesday to agree to the court date but did not enter a plea. Todd's attorney, Worrick Robinson, said prosecutors made an offer to resolve the case but declined to elaborate on the details.

Todd told assembled reporters afterward that "everybody is capable of making a mistake."

Police on Oct. 11 charged Todd with drunken driving, refusing to take a breath alcohol test and possessing a firearm while intoxicated.

His attorney declined to say whether Todd had been at a bar before being pulled over.
