Lee White

Lee White has joined Southeast Venture as property manager and will handle the day-to-day operations of over 400,000 square feet of office and industrial space located in Brentwood, LaVergne, Antioch, Belle Meade, MetroCenter, the Gulch and airport areas.

White comes to Southeast Venture from Cassidy Turley, where as assistant property manager he aided in the supervision of multiple portfolios consisting of over 2,000,000 square feet of office, retail and industrial properties.

White earned his bachelor’s degree in construction management and land development from Mississippi State University.

Neal & Harwell adds two new attorneys

Meghan C. Dougherty and Chanelle A. Johnson have joined Neal & Harwell, PLC as associates.

Dougherty’s practice focuses on civil litigation, while Johnson concentrates on white-collar criminal litigation and civil litigation with emphasis on the False Claims Act.

Dougherty previously served as law clerk to Judge B. Avant Edenfield, district court judge for the Southern District of Georgia. From 2009-2010, she was an associate at Fields, Howell, Athans & McLaughlin, LLP in Atlanta. She began her career at Atlanta firm Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell.

She received her J.D. cum laude from the University of Georgia in 2007, where she was awarded the 2006 School of Law Award for high academic performance in legal research and writing. She received a B.A. in English with honors from the University of Indiana in 2000.

A Denver native, Johnson joins Neal & Harwell from the United States Marine Corps. She served six years, acting as a chief prosecutor, ethics advisor and company commander stationed at Parris Island, S.C. Prior to joining the military, she was a litigation associate at Denver firm Ogborn, Summerlin & Ogborn.

Johnson received her J.D. at Harvard Law School in 2004, where she was copy editor of the Women’s Law Journal. She graduated cum laude from the University of Colorado, Denver, in 2001 with a B.S. in political science.

Thompson to oversee VUMC development

Mary Beth Thompson has been named associate vice chancellor for Vanderbilt University Medical Center Development and will oversee development activities for all academic and clinical programs in the Medical Center.

Thompson has more than 20 years of experience in volunteer management and fundraising. She came to Vanderbilt in 2008 from Sacred Heart Health System in Florida to lead VUMC’s regional development program. For the past two years, she has served as assistant vice chancellor of Development and Alumni Relations.

In her new role Thompson will provide strategic leadership to the Medical Center’s development team. Thompson will lead a team of nearly 70 members as they focus on institutional priorities for the Medical Center, including building endowment for students and faculty, programs and capital projects such as the expansion of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

VUMC’s Gitlin elected to Institute of Medicine

Jonathan Gitlin, M.D., the Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Pediatrics and former chair of the department at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, has been elected to the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the National Academies.

The IOM is the health arm of the National Academies and is composed of 1,870 experts in medicine and the life sciences. It serves as an adviser to the nation to improve health and promote health-related research.

The National Academies are private nonprofit institutions that provide advice on some of the most pressing challenges facing the nation and the world.

With Gitlin’s election, Vanderbilt now has 21 current faculty who are members of the National Academies - 16 members of the IOM, and five others are members of other arms of the National Academies — the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) or the National Academy of Engineering (NAE).

Barge Waggoner pair earn highest honors

Russell Moorehead, PE, and Chris Triplett, PE, PMP, with engineering firm Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon, Inc. (BWSC), were jointly awarded the Dan B. Barge, Jr. Award for Distinguished Service by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Tennessee Section for their service to the organization and industry.

The award is given annually to an engineer member of the Tennessee Section of the ASCE who has made definite contributions to the Society at the national, section, and/or branch levels. First begun in 1988, the first recipient was Dan B. Barge, Jr., co-founder of BWSC and the award bears his name.

Moorehead is a senior project engineer with the BWSC Chattanooga office and has been a major force in acquiring participation of ASCE with the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for Engineers’ Day on the Hill and other industry awareness efforts.

Triplett is a project manager in the BWSC Memphis office and has served ASCE in various roles including President of the West Tennessee Branch, ASCE District 9 Representative, Tennessee section vice president, and president of the section.

Fifth Third Bank names new team members

Cheryl Martin joins Fifth Third as a private banking officer for the Entertainment & Music Division. She was previously employed by U.S. Bank’s Entertainment and Pro Sports Division. Cheryl has worked in entertainment banking for 12 years.

Errol N. Mooney is a financial center manager for the Green Hills Financial Center. He comes to Fifth Third Bank from U.S. Bank and has 25 years of experience in the retail lending and banking industry.

Josh Jones joins Fifth Third Bank as a financial service representative for the Indian Hills Financial Center in Murfreesboro. He is a graduate of Motlow State Community College and was previously employed at U.S. Bank.

Rasohn Perry is a personal banker at the Nashville Financial Center. Perry is a graduate of Tennessee Technology University and has worked in banking for almost two years. He was previously employed by SunTrust Bank.

Denise Haraseviat joins Fifth Third as a mortgage area sales manager. She was previously employed at Bank of America Home Loans and Wells Fargo and has 30 years of experience in the mortgage and banking industry.

Leigh Phillips is a personal banker at the financial center located on public square in Franklin. Phillips holds a bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She was previously employed by SunTrust Bank.

Lifepoint picks Murphy for executive roles

LifePoint Hospitals has announced that Leif Murphy has been named executive vice president and chief development officer.

In this new role, Murphy will oversee LifePoint’s ongoing growth and development strategy, including pursuing acquisitions and innovative partnerships intended to increase acquisition opportunities, enhance the quality of care provided at acquired hospitals and better align the company’s hospitals for the future of healthcare. Additionally, he will manage in-market expansion efforts at LifePoint’s existing hospitals, seeking ways to increase and enhance the services offered at each facility.

Murphy earned a B.A. in business administration from Furman University and his MBA from The College of William and Mary.

Carroll directs VUMC’s patient, guest services

Sean Carroll, MMHC, senior coach in the Service Excellence Coaching and Consulting Department at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, has been named director of Patient and Guest Services.

During the first eight years of his employment, Carroll worked with the Human Resources Department in recruitment and employee relations. He later joined the Service Excellence Department as a senior coach upon obtaining his master of management in health care degree from the Owen School of Management.

Lattimore Black adds tax specialist

Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC (LBMC), one of the Southeast’s largest accounting and business consulting firms, has added Kyle Engels in Nashville.

Engels has joined the accounting firm as a staff member in the tax services group. A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Engels holds a master’s degree with a concentration in accounting and specialization in taxation. Prior to joining LBMC, Engels was an accounts payable specialist with Affinion Benefits Group.
