Huffington Post to launch French portal
Associated Press
The Huffington Post is launching a website in France, the latest move by the news and opinion portal to expand to markets outside the U.S.
The Huffington Post Media Group said Monday that it will launch Le Huffington Post in a partnership with publisher Le Monde Group and media holding company Les Nouvelles Editions Independantes before the end of the year.
Each of the partners will be shareholders in the site. A unit of Le Monde will partner on the portal's advertising.
Huffington Post has begun hiring staff for the site, which will also host content from Les Nouvelles Editions' writers.
Huffington Post Canada launched in May. Huffington Post U.K. debuted in July.
AOL Inc. bought the Huffington Post Media Group in February. Co-founder Arianna Huffington is editor-in-chief.
