Lebanon proposes retail center, hockey arena
LEBANON (AP) — City officials in Lebanon have announced a proposal to build a retail and office space facility, followed by an arena-events center.
Mayor Philip Craighead said Wednesday a private developer will break ground next week on the first facility.
He said tax revenues from that site, near Interstate 40, would go toward a 4,500-seat arena designed for a minor league hockey team.
Craighead said it could be up to 10 years before both are done.
He told The Associated Press, "We've been talking about this for 20 years."
The arena-events center is estimated to cost $40 million.
