Nissan joins in green community center partnership
NASHVILLE (AP) — Nissan Americas has joined with a nonprofit group in Nashville, Urban Green Lab, as a founding partner in a new sustainability living center in East Nashville's Inglewood neighborhood.
Urban Green Lab is putting up a green building, slated to open next year, to serve as a meeting place for students and adults to learn about topics such as energy efficiency and urban agriculture in the neighborhood that a Nissan statement describes as an "underserved community."
The center will include charging stations compatible with Nissan's all-electric LEAF.
Nissan in a statement said it is making a $100,000 donation and is challenging the community for financial support. Nissan has committed to match other gifts up to an additional $100,000, plus cash contributions of another $175,000 over the next three years.
