Gibson guitar CEO to be Blackburn guest
MEMPHIS (AP) — The head of Gibson Guitar Corp., whose factories in Memphis and Nashville were recently raided by federal authorities, will be U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn's guest when President Barack Obama speaks about job creation Thursday.
CEO Henry Juszkiewicz said the company has been implicated in criminal activity, but not charged. He said authorities didn't specify what they were investigating.
Blackburn hasn't said she found fault with the raids. But according to The Commercial Appeal, the Tennessee Republican did say in a statement that "we'd see more new jobs being created" if Obama would find solutions to empower small-businesses instead of hindering businesses like Gibson (http://bit.ly/ok9EKJ ).
Obama is expected to pitch at least $300 billion in jobs proposals to a joint session of Congress.
