Nashville laying of 46 in city hospital system

Print | Front Page | Email this story

NASHVILLE (AP) — Metro Nashville hospital officials say they must lay off 46 employees because of budget constraints.

Most of the job losses will be at Nashville General Hospital at Meharry, where 33 positions are being cut. There will also be 10 layoffs at the Bordeaux Long-Term Care facility and three at the Knowles Home.

The Metropolitan Nashville Hospital Authority says the cuts amount to about 3.8 percent of the work force and are designed to save $3.4 million, according to The Tennessean (http://bit.ly/r2vqRn).

The publicly owned agency said it might have to close a neonatal intensive care unit and an adult day-care program to stay within its budget.
