Two senior faculty members at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center have been promoted to new leadership roles.

Carlos L. Arteaga, M.D., professor of Medicine and Cancer Biology and director of the Breast Cancer Program, has accepted a new role as associate director for Clinical Research.

Arteaga is also the director of the VICC Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) in Breast Cancer, which is supported by funding from the National Cancer Institute (NCI).

The position of associate director for Clinical Research was previously held by R. Daniel Beauchamp, M.D., distinguished professor of Surgery and chair of the Section of Surgical Sciences. He holds joint appointments as professor of Cell and Developmental Biology and Cancer Biology. Beauchamp will move up to a new leadership position as deputy director of the Cancer Center.

Arteaga joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 1989. He received his medical degree from the University of Guayaquil in Ecuador. He trained in Internal Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, and then conducted his oncology fellowship at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, San Antonio.

Beauchamp received his medical degree and served a residency in General Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Galveston. He was a post-doctoral fellow and research assistant professor working with Harold L. (Hal) Moses, M.D., at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, then returned to UTMB as assistant professor of Surgery and Biochemistry and Genetics.

He rejoined the Vanderbilt faculty in 1994 as associate professor of Surgery and Cell Biology. He served as chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology from 1997 until 2001 when he assumed his current position as Chief of Surgery.

The Bank of Nashville adds Stocker, Joyner

Joe Stocker has joined The Bank of Nashville as senior vice president, business banking, and Amy Joyner has joined the Bank as senior vice president and manager for business development and relocation, a newly created position.

Stocker will have the responsibility of managing the activities of the Business Banking Division, with clients ranging from $2.5-$10.0 million in sales. Joyner will be responsible for identifying, soliciting and securing new relationships for the bank focusing on relocating companies, as well as economic, social, and civic leadership in Middle Tennessee.

Stocker has 23 years of banking experience, most recently serving as area president for the Nashville Market of FirstBank. In that role he had direct oversight of the retail, commercial real estate and business banking divisions.

Joyner served most recently as senior vice president, business development & client advisory division for Pinnacle Financial Partners.

Bird named regional finance director

Richard Bird, senior manager of accounting and financial analysis for Synovus Bank, has been promoted to director of regional finance for the Tennessee region.

In his new role Bird will have responsibility for the banks in Memphis and Chattanooga, as well as Nashville. Prior to joining The Bank of Nashville in 2003, Bird was part of Kraft CPA’s Banking Industry Team.

Kelly Crockett joins Centerstone board

Centerstone, a not-for-profit provider of community-based mental health and addiction services, has announced that Kelly P. Crockett has joined the Centerstone of Tennessee board of directors.

Board members help support the organization’s mission to prevent and cure mental illness and addiction, while helping guide Centerstone’s operations and policies throughout Tennessee.

Crockett also serves as a board member of One Life, the Nashville Zoo and Night of Jade. She also actively supports Youth Town of Tennessee, Nashville Rescue Mission and the Oasis Center. Crockett is a member of the Tiffany Circle Red Cross and the People’s Church. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lambuth University and a master’s degree in counseling from Oral Roberts University.

Revive hires Hannafan as development manager

Revive has announced the addition of Gabrielle Hannafan as marketing and business development manager.

Hannafan is responsible for the planning and implementation of new business development programs and marketing campaigns to secure new clients for the agency and maintain the firm’s thought leadership in health issues. She is the sixth professional to join Revive’s new Nashville office in as many months and brings the health care firm’s total roster to 18.

Prior to joining Revive, Hannafan spent more than five years managing corporate communications for Healthcare Realty Trust Incorporated. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, she earned a bachelor of arts degree with an interdisciplinary major in English and history, as well as a dual major in Spanish.

Babb joins Civic Bank as asst. vice president

Karen Babb recently joined Civic Bank & Trust as assistant vice president – loan operations officer.

Babb oversees the Bank’s daily operations. She was previously employed by Elmhurst Financial Services as account manager and has 27 years banking experience.

Hanson, Cintron join Pinnacle

Todd Hanson and Daniel Cintron have joined Pinnacle Financial Partners.

Hanson brings 35 years of experience to her role of financial advisor assistant. She most recently served as a loan specialist at Reliant Bank. Prior roles were with Bank of America., where she served as a bank officer in business banking support, and with Cumberland Bank as an executive assistant and loan processor.

Hanson is active in the community through her volunteer work with United Way, Boys and Girls Club, Second Harvest Food Bank and Waves.

Cintron, with 14 years of experience, is a service specialist for Pinnacle. Prior roles include serving as a teller coordinator for SunTrust Bank and as a sales and service specialist for Bank of America.

Carroll Joins Barge, Waggoner

Scott Carroll has joined the Corporate Marketing Department of architecture and engineering firm Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon, Inc. (BWSC) as a marketing coordinator.

Carroll will provide marketing support on initiatives for the Water Services Group in addition to working with other marketing staff members on proposal development, information research, design and business development.

Carroll comes to BWSC from Crowder Construction Company in Apex, North Carolina, where he was Marketing Coordinator. He has held similar positions with BBH Design, PA, in Raleigh, North Carolina, and at Corley Redfoot Zack, Inc., in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Avenue Bank announces three new bankers

Avenue has added a new vice president in Cool Springs and two new concierge bankers.

Courtney Williams has been named vice president, private client services at the Cool Springs branch. She joins Avenue Bank with 16 years experience in the banking industry. Prior to Avenue Bank, Williams was with Community First Bank & Trust.

Taylor Long is a concierge banker in Cool Springs. Taylor was previously a personal banker with Fifth Third Bank. He graduated

Eastern Kentucky University in 2009 with a degree in communication studies.

Philip Mabry is also a new member of the Avenue Bank team serving as a

concierge banker at the West End branch. Mr. Mabry is a 2011 graduate of Furman University with a degree in business and sustainable design.

Fifth Third Bank hires membership specialist

Sharon Caldwell joins Fifth Third as a membership banking specialist for the Tennessee affiliate.

Sharon is a graduate of Georgia State University and was previously employed at Jason’s Deli. She has worked in business development and operations for the past six years. Sharon is an active member of the Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce, Tennessee Christian Chamber of Commerce & Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce.

DVL Announces new hire, promotion

DVL Public Relations & Advertising recently announced the addition of Eva Atkins as media planner/buyer and the promotion of Mallory Phillips to advertising assistant account executive.

Prior to DVL, Atkins worked as a media planner for several Nashville-area advertising agencies. She attended the University of Tennessee, and has marketing expertise in the dining, footwear, furniture, nonprofit and tourism industries. In her new role at DVL, Atkins will manage the purchase of print, online, radio and television advertising for all clients.

Phillips, a member of DVL’s advertising division, has been promoted from account service associate to assistant account executive. She joined the agency in 2010 following her graduation from Middle Tennessee State University and coordinates advertising and collateral projects for several account teams ranging from education to retail.

Consensus Point adds Evans as vice president

Consensus Point CEO Linda Rebrovick announced today that Brian Evans has joined the enterprise software company as vice president of business development.

Before Consensus Point, Brian was a co-founder of FanLab, a sponsorship research and measurement firm where he worked with AFLAC, Goodyear and Continental to measure the impact and return of sponsorship.

Prior to FanLab, Brian was the managing director of an international brand consulting firm.
