Obama presses Congress to end FAA shutdown

Print | Front Page | Email this story

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is imploring the House and Senate to end the partial shutdown of the Federal Aviation Administration within days.

Said the president: "My expectation, and I think the American people's expectation, is that this gets resolved by the end of this week."

Yet it remains unclear how and whether that will happen.

Addressing reporters at the start of a Cabinet meeting, Obama was asked whether he would intervene to end the dispute. He said he has made calls to key leaders and urged them to do their work. He said the legislation needed to solve the crisis is not complicated and has been done many times before.
