Mayor Karl Dean has announced that Music Row veteran Randy Goodman will serve as co-chairman of the Nashville Music Council. Goodman most recently was president of Lyric Street Records in Nashville.

The Nashville Music Council was launched in 2009 as a partnership between the Mayor’s Office, the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau to capitalize on Nashville’s identity as Music City. Mary Ann McCready, a partner at Flood, Bumstead, McCready & McCarthy, served the past two years as co-chair with the mayor.

“Mayor Dean has been the strongest advocate, friend and supporter of the music industry of all the elected officials I have worked with in my 30 years in the business,” Goodman said. “To get the chance to serve as a co-chair is an honor and an exciting opportunity for me. I am eager to give back and to help Mayor Dean help the entertainment industry thrive as a business in a city that attracts musicians from all genres.”

A Nashville native, Goodman started Nashville-based Lyric Street Records for the Walt Disney Co. in 1997 and served as president until the record label closed in 2010. At Lyric Street, Goodman guided artists including Rascal Flatts, Miley Cyrus, Josh Gracin, SHeDAISY and Aaron Tippin. In his 30-year career, Goodman also has worked with artists including Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton, the Judds, Alabama, Keith Whitley, Clint Black, the Dave Matthews Band and the Wu Tang Clan.

Avenue Bank growing with addition of 4

Four new associates who have joined the Avenue Bank team.

Blake Boyd is a concierge banker at the Green Hills branch. He has prior banking experience, including compliance reviews for the commercial credit portfolio and commercial underwriting. He is a 1997 graduate of Baylor University.

Josh Bradley has joined the West End branch as a concierge banker. Previously, Bradley owned his own property preservation business and worked as an Advisor at Waddell & Reed. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2009.

Erika Lamanna also is a concierge Banker. She holds B.A. (Elon, 2009) and master’s degrees (Vanderbilt, 2011) in economics

Kelly Stevens is a new member of the client services team and serves as a concierge banker in Green Hills. She is a 2011 graduate of Furman University with a B.A. in business administration.

Mackler joins Bone McAllester Norton

James Mackler has joined the law firm of Bone McAllester Norton PLLC as a litigation attorney with a specialty in legal assistance for military veterans.

Along with litigation, Mr. Mackler will provide legal assistance to members of the military transitioning into the civilian sector, including entrepreneur start-ups, fundamental business issues and the day to day legal issues that veterans encounter with a new business.

Mr. Mackler is a graduate of Duke University, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in public policy studies. He received his law degree, with honors, from the University of Washington School of Law where he served as the president of the Moot Court Honor Board. He is the 1995 recipient of the University of Washington Public Interest Law Association Grant and a Member of the Order of the Barristers.

McNeely Pigott & Fox adds O’Brien in DC

McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations has hired Devin O’Brien as director of the company’s Washington, D.C., office.

O’Brien comes to MP&F with nearly 10 years of experience working in senior outreach, communications and public policy positions in the U.S. Senate, the executive branch, the U.S. House of Representatives and the private sector.

Before joining MP&F, O’Brien was a senior manager for an energy consulting practice in D.C. In that role, he oversaw the management of day-to-day client work and coordinated outreach and business development activities.

Nashville engineers elected to ACEC of TN

Steven Field, PE, principal of Stantec Consulting Services, Inc., Nashville, has been elected 2011-2012 president-elect of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Tennessee (ACEC of Tennessee), an organization whose membership includes more than 100 engineering firms located across the state.

In addition, three other Nashvillians will serve as 2011-2012 officers: Chuck Saunders, PE, Fisher & Arnold, Inc. was elected second vice president, John Wimberly, PE, I.C. Christ Presbyterian selects Moore

The leadership of Christ Presbyterian Church & Academy announced today that Matt Moore will become its new Executive Director of Operations, effective in August.

In his role, Moore will direct the business office and support operations of CPC and CPA. He brings broad-based expertise in operations, finance and strategic business development.

Moore most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Sole Supports Inc., a leader in foot biomechanics and orthotics, where he guided business operations for a fast-growing company with $8 million in annual revenues and 100 employees. He also was a project engineer for Sole Supports.

Moore is a graduate of Goodpasture High School, Vanderbilt University (master’s in engineering) and the University of Tennessee (bachelor’s in engineering science).

VUMC’s Talbot to serve on CDC committee

Thomas R. Talbot III, M.D., M.P.H., associate professor of Medicine, Preventive Medicine and chief hospital epidemiologist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC).

HICPAC is a federal advisory committee made up of 14 external infection control experts who provide advice and guidance to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding the practice of health care infection control, strategies for surveillance and prevention and control of health care-associated infections in United States health care facilities.

One of the primary functions of the committee is to issue recommendations for preventing and controlling health care-associated infections in the form of guidelines, resolutions and informal communications.

Reliant Bank mortgage names Cooke to team

Steve Cooke has joined Reliant Bank as a Mortgage Originator for the bank’s mortgage department.

Prior to joining Reliant Bank, Cooke worked at Malcap Mortgage and was quickly promoted through the ranks. He was also a standing member of the company’s President’s Club for high performance. Cooke specializes in the complexities of jumbo loans. His expertise in the mortgage industry led him to being a contributing writer for the Tennessean’s “Ask the Expert” column for two years.

Cooke is a graduate of UCLA and earned his MBA at Pepperdine University.

The Nashville office of Hall Booth Smith & Slover, P.C., today announced that Jennifer M. Eberle, a trial attorney specializing in medical malpractice, has joined the firm.

Eberle, who has 10 years of experience, has served as local counsel in multidistrict pharmaceutical cases and in large-scale product liability medical device cases. In addition, she represents business clients in areas of commercial litigation, including internal investigations, employment law, and tort and insurance matters.

A native of Clarksville, Eberle received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Austin Peay State University and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. She is a member of the American, Tennessee and Nashville bar associations.
