Ann Tidwell is the recipient of the 2011 Friends of Radnor Lake Environmental Award.

Tidwell was an early organizer in the campaign to “Save Radnor Lake!” in 1972 and has remained active in the group that became Friends of Radnor Lake, serving as its president for six years.

The City of Forest Hills is the recipient of the 2011 Friends of Radnor Lake Partnership Award for its donation of $100,000 to rebuild Radnor’s South Cove Trail and bridge, both damaged by the landslides and trail washout during the May 2010 flood.

Radnor Lake park manager Steve Ward was presented the Blue Heron Award, for the countless hours he spent restoring the damages caused by the May 2010 flood, including organizing hundreds of volunteers and safely and quickly reopening Otter Creek Road in 37 days, despite initial estimates of more than a year to repair the road.

The annual Friends of Radnor Lake Environmental Awards were conceived in 2001 by John Netherton, a local author, nature photographer, and former president of the Friends of Radnor Lake, who sought a way to honor individuals for their contributions to protecting, for perpetuity, the natural resources of Radnor Lake. Welcoming over 1,000,000 visitors annually, Radnor Lake is a 1,260 acre urban sanctuary for wildlife and waterfowl and a place of peace and tranquility for its visitors. It serves as a natural habitat for waterfowl, eagles, deer, turkey, and otters.

CB Richard Ellis adds Ryan as VP

Douglas J. Ryan has joined the Nashville office of CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) as vice president in the firm’s office brokerage group. Formerly the director of commercial sales with Interior Design Services, Inc., Ryan has more than 15 years of commercial real estate experience. Ryan owned a real estate consulting practice, Ibex Advisory LLC, and worked with corporate clients in areas ranging from development and planning to leasing and land sales.

Ryan is a licensed real estate broker in Tennessee and Michigan. He is a member of the New Business Recruitment Committee and the Existing Business Committee of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce. A member of NAIOP, he serves on the organization’s Government Affairs Committee. He is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

He is a graduate of the University of Michigan (master’s in urban planning) and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (bachelor’s in architecture).

Cheekwood names Ely VP of development

Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art recently announced the promotion of Kimberly Ely to vice president of development.

Ely has worked at Cheekwood since 2004, most recently as director of corporate and individual giving. Her experience includes non-profit fundraising for cultural institutions, as well as financial services marketing, having worked for American Express TRS Company, Inc., both in Latin America and Europe. She earned her MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and received her BA from Southern Methodist University.

Smith joins Moontoast as GM of development

Moontoast announced today the appointment of Geoff Smith as the new vice president and general manager of business development for the company.

Geoff brings more than 15 years of successful e-commerce leadership, innovation and growth from top Internet retailers. In his position, Smith will be responsible for developing strategic partnerships with large e-commerce, music, publishing, and consumer brand partners.

Smith has served as senior vice president, e-commerce for Value Vision Media, Inc., where he was in charge of strategic direction and day-to-day management of ShopNBC.com and ShopNBC.TV; senior vice president, interactive commerce for Shop At Home Network, a division of the E.W.Scripps Company, where he was responsible for online commerce for Shop At Home TV, Food Network Store, and the HGTV and DIY Store; president, Internet division for Personal Creations; and director, AOL Shopping Channel for America Online.

Zeitlin adds Gregory as affiliate broker

Heather Gregory has joined the Green Hills office of Zeitlin & Co., Realtors as a new affiliate broker.

A professional designer by trade, Gregory will help Zeitlin’s home buyers and sellers maximize the visual potential of their property.

Prior to joining Zeitlin & Co., Realtors, Gregory worked at the Gallery of Belle Meade for 15 years where she was responsible for purchasing inventory and arranging showroom vignettes. She has 23 total years of design experience, which includes services like space planning, furniture and fabric selection, drapery and rug design, and lighting.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Kinnard honored with TAJ Paladin Award

The Tennessee Association for Justice (TAJ) has honored Randy Kinnard, founding partner of Kinnard, Clayton & Beveridge in Nashville, with a coveted TAJ Paladin Award.

The award recognizes TAJ Members who have achieved outstanding results for a client despite great obstacles and who have worked tirelessly to protect the civil justice system. Kinnard is one of three 2011 award recipients, and is the only winner from Middle Tennessee.

Kinnard was recognized for his winning medical malpractice case in 2010, from which clients Bette and Ben Donathan were awarded $22.2 million, the largest medical malpractice case in Tennessee history.

In 2010, Kinnard was inducted into the Inner Circle of Advocates – a group of the top-100 plaintiff trial attorneys in the country. Kinnard is a certified Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education & Specialization, as well as a Certified Medical Malpractice Specialist.

Ragland is new VP for Skanska USA

Skanska USA’s building business unit has hired Marsh Ragland as a vice president and regional executive responsible for advisory services, client relations and growth initiatives for the company’s Midwest operations.

Ragland has 25 years of industry experience in the public and private sectors and will assist clients with building-related challenges that fall outside typical construction management and general contractor relationships, such as program management and green consulting.

Before joining Skanska, Ragland was a vice president and area manager for Heery International, where he led or was a key contributor to capital improvements for Nashville/Davidson County Metropolitan Public Schools and program management services for Metropolitan Nashville/Davidson County.

A native of Tulsa, Ragland graduated from Oklahoma State University.

Bradley moves to Wilson Group

Christie Bradley has joined The Wilson Group Real Estate Services.

Christie left the Music Industry in 2006 to pursue a career in Real Estate, working with Fridrich & Clark Realty to build a referral-based business.

Christie is a winner of multiple Awards of Excellence from the Greater Nashville Association of Realtors GNAR.

Juvenile Infectious Disease Society honors Edwards

Kathryn Edwards, M.D., director of the Vanderbilt Vaccine Research Program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, has been named to receive the 2011 Distinguished Physician Award from the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society (PIDS).

This announcement was made during a recent Pediatric Academic Societies Conference in Denver. For Edwards, the award is another on a long list of honors and recognitions for her work.

The PIDS award is the highest honor given by the society, presented annually to a pediatrician who has an extensive and distinguished career in pediatric infectious diseases.

The honored physician also has made significant contributions nationally and internationally to advance the knowledge of pediatric infectious diseases and its application to the care of children.
