Bill to ban pets in drivers' laps fails in Senate
NASHVILLE (AP) — A bill seeking to ban pets from riding in drivers' laps has failed for the year.
Republican Sen. Stacey Campfield of Knoxville has said the measure would address safety concerns over dogs or other pets interfering with drivers.
The companion bill passed the House on a 72-16 vote last week, but the measure did not receive a motion from any member of the Senate Transportation Committee on Wednesday.
