Revive, a national public relations firm specializing in Health Services and Healthy Living, has announced the opening of a second office in Nashville.

Based in Santa Barbara, the firm chose Nashville for the site of its second location based on the city’s reputation as the nation’s health care industry capital and the depth of health care PR talent in the market. The firm will be located in Cummins Station.

Kriste Goad, senior vice president, joined Revive in February and will lead the Nashville office, as well as participate on the firm’s management committee, bringing 20 years of communications experience in the health care, corporate and government arenas. Prior to joining Revive, Goad was a principal at Hall Strategies, where she maintained a portfolio of clients that included health plans, health service firms, health industry associations and the state biotech association. She holds a B.A. from Auburn University.

Revive also added Amy Murphy as vice president. She joins the firm after six years at the Washington, D.C.-based American College of Cardiology (ACC), where she served as the director of media relations. Prior to the ACC, Amy served as legislative assistant to U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn. A native of Tennessee, Amy holds a B.A. from Lambuth University, and a master’s in communication from the Kriger School of Arts & Sciences Graduate Program at Johns Hopkins University.

change:healthcare

adds 3 to data team

Brentwood-based change:healthcare is adding three new data and IT professionals, Jeff Simmonds, Levi Kennedy and Cameron Dykes.

Simmonds has been named manager of IT Infrastructure, while Kennedy and Dykes have been hired as programmers, company Founder and CEO Christopher Parks has announced.

The Brentwood cost transparency company helps businesses save healthcare dollars by providing employees personalized views of pricing information and proactive alerts that highlight opportunities to save money on routine care and prescriptions in their local area. The firm works with more than 100 self-insured businesses across the U.S., representing nearly 100,000 lives.

Simmonds will oversee systems and networking infrastructure that supports all corporate, facility and product-related requirements for the company. He comes to change:healthcare from his own consulting company, where he has been a Linux Systems Administrator and web applications developer since 2005.

Kennedy joins the staff as a programmer. He previously was a software developer with Walcott Squared, the Brentwood company that provides back office support in various finance and HR fields. Prior to that, he held developer and technical positions with Apple, Inc., Griffin Technology and TotemPoll. He holds a BS of Commercial Music degree from Belmont University with an emphasis in music technology.

Dykes also will be a programmer, having previously served as a senior programmer for Premiere Speakers Bureau. He Is an MTSU graduate with a BS in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics.

Harvard’s Karp will

lead Transplant Center

After 18 years at the helm of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Transplant Center, C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., deputy vice chancellor for Health Affairs and CEO of the Vanderbilt Health System, is stepping away from his role as the center’s director.

After a comprehensive national search, Seth J. Karp, M.D., has been named to replace Pinson as head of Tennessee’s only comprehensive transplant program, effective July 1. Karp currently serves as assistant professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, and as director of the Pancreas Transplant Program and Transplant Fellowship Training Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Karp’s appointment marks only the third leadership change since the Transplant Center’s founding in 1989. Karp succeeds Pinson and the Center’s founding director William Frist, M.D., who served as director from 1989 to 1993.

Karp graduated from Harvard College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Astrophysics and a Master in Astrophysics. He went on to earn his medical degree from the Harvard-Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) Division of Health Sciences and Technology.

He underwent residency training in Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he served as a postdoctoral fellow and chief resident. After completing his residency, Karp served a fellowship in Transplantation at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where he was also an attending surgeon.

IT department head joins Crosslin & Assoc.

March 18, 2011 - Crosslin & Associates, P.C., a regional accounting and consulting firm, is pleased to announce the hiring of Joe Howard as director of information security.

Howard comes to Crosslin with more than fifteen years of experience providing network and information technology systems security. He was previously employed by Franklin American Mortgage Company, where he served as the security architect responsible for designing security controls and systems to comply with banking industry regulations.

He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Western Kentucky University and holds the CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional), CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), and CCDA (Cisco Certified Design Associate) certifications.

Warman, Pierce added

to Castle Homes team

Castle Homes, a longtime Middle Tennessee custom builder, has hired Russell Pierce as a new superintendent and Amanda Hudson Warman as office manager and accountant according to Alan Looney, company president.

Pierce and Warman will help launch launch the Southern Living Showcase Home slated for fall, as well as new home development in Arundel Court, Annandale and The Reserve at Temple Hills.

A Nashville resident, Pierce is a graduate of California State University, Chico, with a degree in construction management. He previously worked as a project manager for Joeris General Contractors, in Texas. As a superintendent for Castle Homes, Pierce is a LEED accredited professional.

Warman, a Brentwood resident, is Castle Homes new office manager and accountant. She earned an accounting degree from Middle Tennessee State University and is a former accounting manager for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA).
