Sundance Film Festival rides into Belcourt
The Belcourt Theatre will become an outpost for the Sundance Film Festival 2011 on Thursday with the screening of “Letters from the Big Man.”
The 7 p.m. exclusive screening is part of Sundance Film Festival USA, a program that introduces the Sundance Film Festival experience to film-loving audiences across the nation. The film’s director, Christopher Munch, will attend the Nashville screening and participate in a post-screening Q & A session. The Belcourt Theatre is the only venue in the South and one of only nine venues in the country selected for this initiative.
Much’s other films include “Harry + Max,” “The Sleepy Time Gal,” “Color of a Brisk and Leaping Day” and “The Hours and Times.”
Tickets are $15 each and available at the theater box office and through its Web site, www.belcourt.org.
“We are honored to once again participate in Sundance Film Festival USA,” says Stephanie Silverman, managing director of the Belcourt, located at 2102 Belcourt Avenue in Hillsboro Village. “It is thrilling to bring the spirit of Sundance to Nashville, celebrate independent cinema and encourage a dialogue between audience and filmmaker.”
The 2011 Sundance Film Festival is scheduled for Jan. 20-30 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.
In addition to its participation as a host theatre for Sundance Film Festival USA, the Belcourt enjoys a longstanding relationship with Sundance Institute and Film Festival.
