Titans (2-6) at Chargers (5-3)

Sunday, Nov. 10 | 3:05 p.m.
SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, Calif.
TV: FOX Radio: 104.5 The Zone

The Titans travel Sunday to Los Angeles to play the Chargers, where they will be attempting to win consecutive games for the first time this season.

First down

Keep the momentum going in the run game. Tony Pollard had his best game as a Titan Sunday, going for 128 yards on the ground against New England. That will be tough to duplicate against a good Chargers defense, but the Titans need to be committed to the run, which is their strength.

Second down

Protect the football. Luck switched sides against the Patriots as the Titans had three takeaways and only one giveaway, an interception that bounced off tight end Chig Okonkwo’s hands at the goal line. It wasn’t that the Titans weren’t sloppy; they fumbled three times. But they were fortunate not to lose any of them, including a muffed snap in overtime on the play before Nick Folk’s game-winning field goal.

Third down

Make the decision. Who will the Titans quarterback be Sunday against the Chargers? Will it be Mason Rudolph, who guided them to a win over the Patriots Sunday? Or does Brian Callahan go back to Will Levis, whose injured shoulder is improving. If he goes back to Levis, the second-year quarterback has to protect the football better than he did before the injury.

Fourth down

Starting building something. Winning on the road against the Chargers is a formidable task for a Titans team that has struggled to do much of anything well. But maybe a dose of confidence will help. The Titans need to start finding ways to win and creating their own breaks to change the momentum of games. They’ll need to catch a break with a takeaway or two and keep the game close into the fourth quarter for a chance at an upset.
