The Nashville Conflict Resolution Center has announced a transition plan as longtime executive director Sara Figal plans to retire in mid-2024.

Under Figel’s eight-year leadership, NCRC has created a remote mediation program that now serves the courts and communities in 15 counties. Each year, these mediation services help more than 1,000 residents resolve disputes so they can stabilize their co-parenting, housing and employment situations without the cost and stress of litigation.

Figal serves on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission for the Tennessee Courts, is a past member of the board of the Tennessee Association of Professional Mediators and is an adjunct professor for the Nashville School of Law.

Founded in 2000, Nashville Conflict Resolution Center provides free and low-cost mediation to individuals and groups throughout greater Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Through referrals from the courts and other community partners, NCRC resolves landlord-tenant and debt disputes, custody agreements, workplace conflicts and neighborhood conflicts.

In the past 23 years, NCRC has mediated over 9,000 disputes free or on sliding-scale for some 20,000 participants. More than 250 volunteer mediators have donated their time and skills on behalf of NCRC’s clients.

Lifepoint Health promotes 3 to senior vice president

Lifepoint Health has promoted three to senior vice president. They are:

• Elliott Brown, who previously served as treasurer and vice president of finance and investor relations, has been named senior vice president, treasurer.

• Emily Serck, who previously served as vice president, communications, has been named senior vice president, communications and corporate affairs.

• Charles Wang, who previously served as chief of staff, has been named senior vice president, strategy and chief of staff.

Brown joined Lifepoint in 2010 after serving as a senior associate at Ernst & Young, LLP. He holds a master’s degree in accounting from Middle Tennessee State University and a degree in business administration and accounting from Auburn University.

Serck has been a leader in Lifepoint’s communications department since 2016. She also oversees the Lifepoint Health Community Foundation and supports communications and community engagement with leaders across the Lifepoint footprint. She previously served as senior executive adviser at Jarrard Inc., and senior account manager at DCI Group in Washington, D.C. She earned a degree in communication studies from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Wang, joined Lifepoint in 2021, previously served as vice president, strategy and operations, at Optum. He holds a master’s degree in health science from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University.

Barge Design names first-ever chief of staff

Barge Design Solutions, an engineering and architecture firm, has named Carrie Stokes as its first-ever chief of staff.

With more than 25 years of experience, Stokes is an industry veteran who joined Barge in 1996, rising through the firm to become a board member in 2015 and most recently serving as senior vice president and director of the firm’s largest division, its private client sector. Stokes will oversee several strategic initiatives moving forward and will oversee and work closely with the company’s human resources, talent acquisition and marketing communications teams.

Stokes began her career at Barge as a student intern and has been elevated to several leadership positions throughout her tenure with the firm. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, where she earned both her bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering and her master’s degree in environmental engineering.

F&M Bank names new head of retail banking

F&M Bank has hired Becca Marchman as head of retail banking. She oversees F&M’s network of retail branches, customer growth and retention, consumer lending, business development and employee coaching.

Marchman has more than 16 years in the financial services industry and is a longtime resident of Clarksville and Middle Tennessee.

Leadership Tennessee NEXT sets new class

Leadership Tennessee NEXT, a program committed to nurturing the potential of Tennessee’s emerging leaders, has selected its eighth class. An initiative of Leadership Tennessee, Leadership Tennessee NEXT empowers the state’s early and mid-career professionals.

The class consists of 30 rising professionals were chosen to represent diverse regions and industries. The program is designed to foster the growth of participants’ professional skills and facilitate connections from a cross-sector and cross-region network of state leaders. Throughout the program, participants will engage in collaborative, non-partisan dialogues addressing critical issues of statewide importance.
