Titans vs. Ravens: What to watch

Print | Front Page | Email this story

Ravens (3-2) at Titans (2-3)

Sun., Oct. 15 | 9:30 a.m. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London
TV: NFL Network Radio: 104.5 FM The Zone

The Titans head across the pond to take on old rival Baltimore Sunday in London. Tennessee needs this game to continue to tread water in the AFC South, a division that remains imminently winnable for any of the four teams. First, the Titans have to find a way to win their “home” game in England.

First down

Fix the run defense. The Titans won’t admit it publicly, but not having Teair Tart in the middle of the defensive line was a big factor in the Colts gashing them for nearly 200 yards Sunday. That has to get fixed, whether Tart is good to go or not against the Ravens.

Second down

Contain Lamar Jackson. The Titans have to stop Jackson as a runner first, but now that he has more weapons on the outside, Tennessee’s suspect secondary is also on notice. The Titans can’t allow explosive plays, and Jackson is as capable as any player in the NFL of making big plays with either his arm or his legs.

Third down

Get the run game going. The Titans need more than 89 yards rushing in any game. It’s nice that Ryan Tannehill had a good game through the air against Indy, but if the Titans can’t get the run game going and keep it rolling, it is likely going to be tough for them to win.

Fourth down

Score some points. The Titans have not scored more than 27 points in a game (three times) since the next-to-last game of the 2021 regular season. The NFL is designed for offense and for points to be scored. Somehow, the Titans still grind like it’s 1975. DeAndre Hopkins looks to be getting very comfortable with Ryan Tannehill. The Titans have to find a way to parlay that and the run game into more total points.
