Baker Donelson launches multidisciplinary AI team

Baker Donelson has launched an artificial intelligence team, a multidisciplinary group of attorneys who have extensive experience with AI-based technologies and industry-specific experience.

Led by Andrew J. Droke, CIPP/US, a shareholder in the firm’s Nashville office, Baker Donelson’s dedicated AI Team is composed of attorneys from multiple practices across the firm, including technology; data protection, privacy and cybersecurity; intellectual property; labor & employment; health care; and advocacy. All members of the AI Team regularly work with companies across industry sectors in a range of matters, such as transactional, labor and employment, regulatory, compliance and litigation.

Baker Donelson’s AI Team counsels companies that are developing AI-based technologies, as well as those that are deploying these tools and looking to understand the legal implications and risk mitigation strategies.

Members of the team have assisted organizations of all sizes with matters, such as establishing policies and procedures; developing contracting strategies; addressing requirements regarding bias and non-discrimination; and advising regarding intellectual property, privacy, data use and information security considerations.

Meharry Medical College named med school dean

Meharry Medical College has appointed Sonja Harris-Haywood, M.D., M.S., MA, as dean of the School of Medicine.

Harris-Haywood comes to Meharry from Northeast Ohio Medical University College of Medicine, where she served as associate dean of curriculum integration and one of the key leaders that drove the transformation, implementation and assessment of a new medical school curriculum that integrated medical and clinical sciences.

At Meharry, Harris-Haywood will lead strategic initiatives and long-term planning, as well as oversee curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, and faculty development and performance to further the College’s mission of advancing health equity locally, nationally and globally.

Before her position as associate dean of curriculum at NEOMED, Harris-Haywood served as its senior associate dean and the director of its Partnership for Urban Health and Primary Care.

Harris-Haywood earned a master’s degree in science education from New York University in 1992 and a master’s degree in clinical investigation from Case Western Reserve University in 2015. She attended Seton Hall University for her undergraduate studies and earned her medical degree from New Jersey Medical School in 1997 and completed her family medicine residency at Mountainside Family Medicine in Montclair, New Jersey.

Nashville Soccer Club selects Paola as COO

Nashville Soccer Club announced today the promotion of chief of staff Lindsey Paola to the position of chief operating officer, effective Aug. 1.

Paola will oversee day-to-day business operations at Nashville SC, encompassing operational approvals and human resource matters. She also will play a pivotal role in leading inter-departmental projects and ensuring the development of junior staff members. Additionally, she will work closely with Ayre to develop and implement operating policies, oversee compliance with NSC, Major League Soccer and U.S. Soccer rules, and represent the club as a public spokesperson.

Following two seasons as the organization’s senior director of club administration, Paola was promoted to chief of staff in 2019 as the club graduated its operations from the USL Championship to Major League Soccer.

Before joining Nashville SC, Paola worked in the public sector and the federal government, including Frontier Communications, the United States Department of State, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Noblis. She started her career on the Bush-Cheney presidential campaign and from there worked on the 55th Presidential Inaugural Committee. Lindsey then worked in the White House Office of Vice Presidential Advance and the White House Counsel’s Office during the Bush-Cheney Administration.

She holds a degree in political communications from The George Washington University and a master’s degree in general psychology from The Catholic University of America.

Rebuilding Together picks new executive director

Andrea Prince is the new executive director of Rebuilding Together Nashville.

Prince, who has been with RTN for nearly three years, previously served as director of programs. She became acting executive director in May.

Born and raised in Murfreesboro, Prince earned a degree in social work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She went on to earn a master’s degree in social work with a concentration in nonprofit/organization management from Columbia University.

Rebuilding Together Nashville is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the homes and lives of low-income homeowners and communities in need by providing critical repairs, accessibility modifications and energy-efficient upgrades.

Rosenberg, 5 others join Centerstone board

Centerstone, a national nonprofit provider of mental health and substance-use disorder services, is pleased to announce the appointment of six new members to its board of directors.

Linda Rosenberg, a nationally prominent figure in the behavioral health space and with more than four decades of industry leadership experience, has joined the board. She serves as the executive director of external relations for Columbia University’s department of psychiatry, where she works on strategic planning and execution, identifying and promoting program opportunities, as well as supporting federal, state, and local partnerships that advance the department’s clinical, research and training missions.

Rosenberg previously served as president and chief executive officer for the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, the official trade association of the nation’s safety net mental health and addictions treatment organizations.

Also joining the board are:

Milligan promoted to assistant director

The Metro Nashville Planning Department has promoted Lisa Milligan to assistant director of land development. She has served as the manager for the Land Development Division since 2019.

Milligan joined Metro Nashville Planning in 2014. She previously was a planner for the city of Hendersonville for 10 years.

She earned a master’s degree in city and regional planning from the University of Memphis.

In the last year, Milligan has overseen the coordination of multiple major development projects and project teams such as in the Midtown area.

PENCIL welcomes new class of board leaders

PENCIL (Public Education Needs Community Involvement and Leadership), the boots-on-the-ground community resource recruiter to Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), has named its new class of board members, as well as a new slate of board officers for the 2023-24 program year.

Building on continued growth at PENCIL, the new cohort of board members complements their fellow industry leaders in delivering PENCIL’s vision to create a world in which MNPS students and teachers have equitable access to resources and opportunities.

The new governing board members will serve a three-year term. They are:
