Ragsdale joins GSRM Law

The law firm of Gullett Sanford Robinson & Martin PLLC (GSRM Law) has added Gabriel B. Ragsdale as an associate attorney.

Ragsdale is a member of the litigation and labor and employment sections at GSRM Law. His practice concentrates on complex corporate and commercial litigation matters before state and federal courts in Tennessee and across the country.

Ragsdale previously practiced as an associate with Bayard, P.A. in Wilmington, Delaware, where he focused on complex litigation before the Delaware Court of Chancery and the Delaware Superior Court’s Complex Commercial Litigation Division.

He is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, and while there served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Joseph R. Slights III of the Delaware Court of Chancery. He also externed with the United States Department of the Treasury, assistant general counsel for international affairs, where he represented the Treasury Department as a member of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.

Before law school, Ragsdale worked as an investigator in a Washington, D.C. firm’s whistleblower and class action practice groups.

He holds a degree in political science from Vanderbilt University and he maintains certification as an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).

Fourth Capital expands with senior VP appointment

Fourth Capital, a Middle Tennessee community bank, has named Brad Nelson senior vice president for commercial relationship manager.

Nelson has 20 years of experience in the banking industry and will focus on the growth of Fourth Capital’s commercial business by expanding its client base and growing existing accounts.

Joining Nelson at Fourth Capital is longtime relationship manager assistant, Annette Sims, who will work as a relationship banking coordinator to help support Fourth Capital’s clients. Nelson and Sims will be based out of Fourth Capital’s downtown headquarters before relocating to the bank’s new Franklin Square branch following its opening later this summer.

Nelson previously served as senior vice president and senior lender with Cadence Bank, formerly Bancorp South.

Nelson is a graduate of UT Martin. He also holds an MBA from UT Martin and a graduate degree from the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.

Volunteer State Bank builds leadership team

Volunteer State Bank has welcomed Jimmy Craig and Aaron Hawkins to its senior leadership team.

Craig serves as senior vice president, chief information officer. He brings 25 years of information technology experience, 16 years which have been specifically dedicated to the banking industry.

Most recently, he served as senior vice president, chief technology officer for United Community Bank, and previous to that was senior vice president, chief information officer of Reliant Bank.

Hawkins serves as senior vice president, director of treasury management. He has held corporate positions at Jo-Ann Stores, Inc., Dollar General Corp. and Luminex Corp., where he was responsible for risk management relationships in North America, Europe and Australia. Most recently, Hawkins served as senior vice president, regional sales leader for First Horizon Bank.

Hawkins currently serves on the Tennessee Board of Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership and Kent State University MBA Program Advisory Board.

Childs, Tyree join Barge Design board

Barge Design Solutions, a Nashville-based architecture engineering firm, has added engineers Jonathan Childs and Casey Tyree as board members and promoted seven employees to vice president.

Childs, who joined the firm in 2018, is a senior vice president and serves as director - State and Local Client Center. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Auburn University.

His professional involvement includes serving as the Tennessee Delegate of the Clean Water Professionals of KY-TN and as a member of the Kentucky-Tennessee Water Environment Association, the Alabama Water Environment Association and the Water Environment Federation.

Tyree, who joined Barge in 2012, is a vice president and serves as the director of operations - Private Client Center. He has also served as the Knoxville Office Leader since 2015.

After earning a degree in civil engineering from the University of Kentucky, he served in the United States Navy as a surface nuclear officer for nearly six years. During that time, he earned a master’s in engineering management from Old Dominion University. He also is a graduate of the Barge Leadership Institute.

• Daniel Walton, PE, roadway practice leader - Transportation Solution Center.
