Nashville marathon postponed again amid virus numbers

NASHVILLE (AP) — Organizers of Nashville's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon announced Wednesday that the music and running event will once again be postponed.

According to a news release, organizers determined that event could not take place in late April after evaluating the current status and impacts of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

The event had been originally scheduled to take place last November but skyrocketing case numbers caused it to be pushed back.

"While this is a disappointing way to start the year, officials from Rock 'n' Roll and the city of Nashville feel confident the event will be better positioned for a strong return in the Fall of 2021," organizers said in a statement.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms that clear up within weeks. But for others, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, the virus can cause severe symptoms and be fatal. The vast majority of people recover.
