Michele T. Marsicano and Anthony C. Bills have been named members at Wiseman Ashworth Law Group.

Marsicano heads the firm’s Health Care Operations and Behavioral Health Practice Group, working collaboratively with health care providers and institutions, families, agencies and the courts. She also regularly advocates for physicians and health care institutions before the Health Related Boards, as well as in court.

A graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, Marsicano clerked for the Hon. Roger W. Dunaway and the Hon. Harold A. Hinesley, Toombs Judicial Circuit Superior Court of the 10th Judicial District of Georgia.

Bills’ diverse practice includes health care and mental health law, medical negligence and long-term care defense, products liability, personal injury, premises liability and fidelity and surety law advocacy in state, federal and administrative courts.

Bills is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law with a concentration in advocacy and dispute resolution.

Lose Design Announces 6 Promotions in Nashville

Lose Design has promoted six Middle Tennessee employees. They include:

Tammy Boyte, promoted to vice president and director of business services. Boyte is the firm’s controller and has been with Lose Design since 2005. She earned a degree in business administration from Middle Tennessee State University.

Joshua Gulick, PLA, ASLA, promoted to associate vice president. Gulick is a senior landscape architect and has been with the firm since 2017. He earned a degree in landscape architecture with a minor in urban affairs and planning from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and is pursuing an MBA at Belmont University.

A few of his notable projects include the Bellevue Ford Ice Center and Community Center in Nashville, the Liberty Park Master Plan in Franklin and the Paducah, Kentucky, Aquatic and Wellness Center.

Will Hager, AICP, LEED Green Associate, promoted to associate vice president and director of planning. Hager is a senior planner and has been with the firm since 2016. Hager is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in geography. He also holds a master’s degree in sustainability from Lipscomb University.

A few of his notable projects include the Germantown Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan, the Town of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Parks and Recreation Master Plan and the Mount Pleasant Third Party Planning Services.

April Andersen, PLA, promoted to associate. Andersen is a landscape architect and project manager and joined the firm in 2010. Notable projects include the Southeast Community Center and Ford Ice Center in Antioch, Nashville’s East Bank Riverfront Landing and the Hamilton Springs Transit-Oriented Development Zoning Entitlement in Lebanon.

Andersen graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree and has been a member of the National Association of Women in Construction since 2013. Andersen lives in Nashville with her husband and two young children.

Jason Miles, P.E., CFM, has been promoted to associate. Miles is an assistant division director of engineering and has been with the firm since 2005. Notable projects Miles has been involved with include the Hamilton Springs Transit-Oriented Development and the Wilson Farms Development in Lebanon and the Southeast Community Center and Ford Ice Center in Antioch.

Miles earned a degree in civil engineering from Western Kentucky University in 2005.

John Sexton, promoted to associate. Sexton is a land planner and project manager and has been with the firm since 2013. Notable projects Sexton has been involved with include Mary’s Magical Place in Hendersonville, the Fayetteville Regional Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and the New City Plan in Guangzhou, China.

Sexton earned a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Kentucky. He and his family live in Hendersonville.

Pinnacle adds diversity and inclusion officer

Pinnacle Financial Partners has named firm veteran Eddie Alford its first diversity and inclusion officer. Alford will lead and coordinate work on diversity, inclusion and related issues across all areas of the firm and will join its leadership team.

He will develop initiatives to build on Pinnacle’s foundation as a great place to work. Alford also will serve as a thought leader who centers diversity, inclusion and equity in all of the firm’s work with clients and in the community.

Alford has served on Pinnacle’s learning and development team since joining the firm in 2005. He helped develop and lead Pinnacle’s one of a kind three-day orientation with CEO Terry Turner and played a key role in building Pinnacle’s leadership development curriculum.

Alford earned a degree in business administration and marketing from Alabama State University and an MBA from Middle Tennessee State University. Before working at Pinnacle, he served a vice president of training and development at PrimeTrust Bank and a regional training officer at Nashville Bank of Commerce (NBC). While at NBC, Alford was also the community development officer for Nashville, working with dozens of branches to ensure the bank was meeting the needs of the low- to moderate-income community.

Southeast Venture adds Clements as project architect

Nashville-based Architecture and Interior Design firm Southeast Venture Design announced that Paul Clements has joined the team as a project architect.

A Nashville native and licensed architect, Clements earned both a degree in graphic design and a master of architecture from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. Most recently, Clements served as a design professional for 1Architecture, LLC in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he worked for nearly five years.

Father Ryan High School adds 3 to board of trustees

Father Ryan High School has named Brian Callahan, Barbara Esteves-Moore and Dr. Shindana Feagins to the school’s board of trustees.

Callahan is the chief financial officer of Copperweld Bi-Metallics in Brentwood. Esteves-Moore is the founder and owner of Two Roads Communications in Nashville. Feagins, a member of the school’s medical advisory committee, is an internist in private practice in Madison and the recently named chair of the Hospital Authority Board of Nashville General Hospital. The three new members began their positions July 1.

OZ Arts names Murphy executive, artistic director

Contemporary art and performance center OZ Arts Nashville has named Mark Murphy as its executive and artistic director, expanding his former role as artistic director since late 2018.

The appointment coincides with the announcement of a significant increase in grant funding from the Metro Nashville Arts Commission, including its largest operating grant to date and the only awarded Creation Project Support grant for the 20/21 season and fiscal year. OZ Arts also recently received increased awards from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Tennessee Arts Commission.

Murphy draws on his experience as the founding executive director of REDCAT (Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater), which opened in 2003 and quickly became one of California’s most influential centers for international contemporary art, performance, film and media in downtown Los Angeles. Before opening REDCAT, he served as the artistic director for Seattle’s renowned presenter On the Boards for more than 15 years.

He has also served as chairman of the Choreographer’s Fellowship Panel for the National Endowment for the Arts, was a founding board member of the National Performance Network, an adviser to the National Dance Project, and a member of the advisory board for the Japan Foundation’s Performing Arts Program.

YWCA names 2020 Academy honorees

The YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee is recognizing eight women and one organization who have made their mark on our community. This group will be inducted into the 2020 Academy for Women of Achievement Oct. 21. Health conditions permitting, the 29th annual AWA induction dinner will be held at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel and at intimate gatherings throughout the Metro Nashville areas.

The 2020 honorees are:

This year’s honorees join 171 women and 31 organizations previously inducted into the AWA. They are leaders in the advocacy, medical, business, education and philanthropy fields. The judging committee, made up of business and community leaders and the YWCA Executive Committee, chose the individual and corporate honorees from an exceptional list of nominees.

YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. This mission is even more relevant today, and during these uncertain times, it’s important YWCA continues the AWA tradition and honors those women who embody the mission while also celebrating the role that all women played in the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
