Ex-Kentucky player Delk is Tennessee Hall of Fame inductee

NASHVILLE (AP) — Former University of Kentucky basketball star and NBA player Tony Delk will be inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.

Delk is a Covington, Tennessee, native and played at Haywood High in Brownsville. He was a Parade All-American, McDonalds All-American and 3A Mr. Basketball for Tennessee in 1992, the Hall of Fame said in a news release Wednesday.

At Kentucky, he was Final Four Most Outstanding player, SEC Player of the Year, All-SEC and All-American.

He was drafted 16th overall by the Charlotte Hornets in 1996 and went on to play for the Hornets, Warriors, Kings, Suns, Celtics, Mavericks, Hawks and Pistons during his 10-year NBA career. He also played in Europe for Panathinaikos in Athens. He won the Greek Cup, the Greek Championship and the European Championship.

The full 2020 induction class and information about the induction ceremony will be announced later.
