NASHVILLE (AP) — The National Recreation and Park Association says Tennessee's state parks system is among the best in the country.

State officials say Tennessee State Parks was recognized Tuesday as one of four finalists for the award of top state park system in the U.S. at the association's annual conference in Baltimore.

Tennessee has 56 state parks. The other finalists were Florida State Parks, Maryland Park Service and Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission.

Florida won the award for best park system.

The National Recreation and Park Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of public parks, recreation and conservation.
