NASHVILLE (AP) — Four people have applied for a judicial vacancy in Tennessee.

The Trial Court Vacancy Commission will consider the applicants on May 21 at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, starting with a public hearing at 9 a.m. The commission will forward three names to Gov. Bill Lee for consideration.

The vacancy is for the seat of Judge David A. Patterson, who is retiring effective June 30.

The applicants are Department of Children's Services assistant general counsel Rebecca Brady of Cookeville, private practice lawyer Wesley Thomas Bray of Cookeville, private practice lawyer James Michael Shipman II of Cookeville and private practice lawyer Jeffrey A. Vires of Crossville.

The vacancy is in the 13th Judicial District, which covers Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Overton, Pickett, Putnam and White counties.
