National Science Foundation awards $1M to TSU
NASHVILLE (AP) — Tennessee State University's College of Engineering is using a $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation to provide scholarships to graduate students.
The funds will provide 30 scholarships to students pursuing master's degrees in engineering or computer science over five years.
College of Engineering Dean S. Keith Hargrove said in a news release from the school that it is focused on increasing graduate enrollment and increasing research in advanced materials, cybersecurity, and data sciences and analytics.
The college's goal is to increase graduate enrollment by at least 25 percent in areas of research. The program will also include cohort-building activities, graduate student support services, seminars, summer internships and mentorship.
