NASHVILLE (AP) — Record rainfall in Nashville is good news at the Music City Center, where the water is collected for irrigation and toilets.

According to the center, some of the rainwater is absorbed by plants on the building's green roof. The rest is collected in a 360,000-gallon underground cistern. From there it is pumped throughout the building to flush over 500 toilets and urinals. The rainwater is also used for landscape irrigation.

According to the National Weather Service, as of Feb. 23, the city had received 13.47 inches of rainfall for the month. That surpasses the previous record of 12.37 inches set in 1880.
