KNOXVILLE (AP) — Former Tennessee defensive lineman Ryan Thaxton has pleaded guilty to a count of false imprisonment but can have the charge dismissed if he fulfills the terms of his judicial diversion agreement.

Thaxton's lawyer, Keith Lowe, said Tuesday the guilty plea was deferred and the charge against the 19-year-old will be dismissed if Thaxton pays court costs, takes anger management classes and avoids legal trouble for the next 11 months, 29 days.

A domestic assault charge against Thaxton was dropped.

Thaxton was dismissed from Tennessee's team after his July 15 arrest. University of Tennessee police said Thaxton was arguing with his girlfriend when he insisted she come with him to his dorm room. Police said the woman refused but Thaxton pushed her toward the room, picked her up and carried her inside.
