EU is urging members to prepare for no-deal Brexit
BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Union's executive arm is urging member states to prepare for all possible Brexit scenarios including one where Britain leaves the bloc in a disorderly fashion, and without a deal with Brussels outlining future relations or trade arrangements.
With Brexit negotiations in a deep rut, EU Commission spokeswoman Mina Andreeva said Thursday that "we need to be prepared for all eventualities."
Britain and the 27 EU nations are aiming for a smooth exit for the U.K. next March 29, but talks are progressing at a snail's pace amid deep political divisions in London on what strategy to take.
Britain's chief Brexit negotiator David Davis resigned less than two weeks ago and his successor Dominic Raab will meet his EU counterpart Michel Barnier for the first time late Thursday.
