Madison World War II Living History Event

The Remembrance Day will include living history encampment, displays, exhibits, vendors, a Stage Door Canteen, music from the 1940s, and various hands-on activities for all ages. It is a cultural, social, and historical reenactment to honor the men and women who served both on the home front and overseas during WWII. Friday evening will offer a family movie night, featuring the movie “Arsenic and Old Lace,” a WW ll news reel and a cartoon short. Opening Ceremony Saturday with veterans, local dignitaries, special guest speakers, and a wreath-laying. Saturday night a Stage Door Canteen dance featuring the Moonlighters Big Band. You are invited to come in 1940’s attire. Fee: Free, but donations of any size appreciated. Tomato Arts Festival

Tomato Art Fest returns for its 13th consecutive year on Friday (6-11 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m.-6 p.m.). Located in Historic East Nashville’s Five Points, this free, costume-encouraged event provides a wildly entertaining, fun-filled day for all types and all-ages. A community builder, Tomato Art Fest has steadily drawn larger crowds with each passing year. In 2015, an estimated 60,000 came to celebrate this beloved fruit / vegetable and enjoy the day’s memorable festivities.

Bootlegger’s Bash

The Battle of Franklin Trust will host the sixth annual event at Carnton Plantation, 7 p.m. Guests will celebrate Williamson County’s unique history of bootlegging with a casual evening featuring local whiskey, a Southern supper and live entertainment. All proceeds will be donated to the preservation of Carnton Plantation and The Carter House.
