NashvilleNext Planning Meetings

NashvilleNext, the countywide process for planning Nashville’s next 25 years, is giving Nashvillians the opportunity to voice their priorities. The events are not community-specific, meaning anyone can attend any event and give their input, regardless of location. Free food and children’s activities will be provided. Wounded Warrior Project 5K

Watertown Warrior 5K run/walk to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project and its mission to honor and empower wounded military veterans. 7 a.m. Register at active.com

SUNDAY, JULY 28

Carnton Sunset Concert Series

This annual summer series will feature monthly outdoor concerts from local bands on the lawn of Carnton Plantation. Advance tickets are $10 for adults (13+) or $12 at the gate. Children 6-12 are $5 each, and children 5 and younger are free. Tickets are available at Carnton and The Carter House. The lineup includes:

  • Sunday, July 28: 2Country4Nashville - featuring traditional country music hits made famous by the legends
  • Sunday, August 25: Bad Dog - featuring classic rock from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s

All concerts are from 6-8 p.m., with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. Wrist bands will be issued for re-entry, and parking is free. Patrons are encouraged to bring lounging items such as lawn chairs or blankets. Guests may bring their own food and drink, but both will also be available for purchase.

Young Leaders Council Continuing Education Luncheon on Social Enterprise

Young Leaders Council will host a continuing education luncheon on social enterprise with Don Leyrer of the Social Enterprise Alliance and Kyle McCollom of Everly. 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at The Nashville Entrepreneur Center, 41 Peabody Street. Cost to attend is $20 per person, which includes lunch. Reservations are requested online at www.ylcnashville.org by July 26.

Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers will lead a groundbreaking ceremony for RichEllen Park at 9 a.m., 1466 State Route 149.

Workers’ Compensation Seminars

The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry is partnering with the Tennessee Division of Workers’ Compensation to host a series of business seminars detailing the recent Worker’s Compensation changes. The seminars will be held across the state to help business owners, HR professionals, managers and those involved in compensation claims understand recent legislative changes to the Workers’ Compensation law. Abbie Hudgens, administrator of the Tennessee Division of Workers’ Compensation, will be conducting the seminars along with department staff. Midstate sessions include:

  • July 31: Murfreesboro, Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, 3050 Medical Center Parkway, 9 a.m.-noon
  • Aug. 13: Nashville, 1 Century Place Conference Center, 26 Century Blvd
  • Aug. 13: Clarksville, Clarksville Chamber of Commerce, 25 Jefferson Street, Suite 300

Seventh Annual Nashville Emerging Leader Awards (NELAs)

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Reserves annual BBQ Chicken Dinner

Mayor’s Back to School Bash

The inaugural Mayor Cullough’s Back to School Bash will take place 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Cheatham County Courthouse. This “carnival at the court house” will include games, face painting, free school supplies and more. The first 100 children to visit will receive a free backpack. Information: 746-2443.
