Meals on Wheels Lunch and Learn. Meals on Wheels needs volunteers. FiftyForward RSVP is holding a lunch and learn session, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., for potential volunteers find out more about pick-up and delivery, as well as delivery areas. John C. Tune Airport Fly-in
The public is invited to watch planes land and take off, as well as view them up close while enjoying lunch and live music. 11 a.m.-1 p.m., in Hangar 2. Visitors can park for free in the airport’s lots. Information: flynashville.com.

Music City July 4 Celebration
Festivities begin with a free concert on the Lawn at Riverfront Park at 6 p.m. on July 3. On the 4th, the celebration begins at noon with live music on the pre-show stage and the free McDonald’s Family Fun Zone on 2nd Avenue and Broadway. The official concert will kick off at 6:45 p.m. with The Mavericks, Craig Morgan, Sarah Darling, the Music City Hit-Makers, Nashville Symphony and the largest fireworks show in the South! Round-trip tickets to downtown are available on the Music City Star are sold out.

Music City Hot Chicken Festival
This year the Music City Hot Chicken Festival is partnering with Nashville Originals and its membership of local restaurateurs to present Hot Chicken Days: 30 Ways to Feel the Burn. The promotion promises to turn up the heat from June 4 to July 4 when more than 30 area restaurants will be featuring their own creative take on our city’s unique dish all leading up to the July 4 Hot Chicken Festival presented by Piedmont Natural Gas. The festival will be held at East Park, 700 Woodland Street, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Vendors include Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack, Bolton’s Spicy Chicken & Fish, 400 Degrees, Pepperfire Hot Chicken, The Chicken Shack, B&C BBQ, Otter’s Chicken Tenders, Foxy Baking Co., East Side Fish, The Dog of Nashville, Farmer’s Market, Yazoo Brewery, Pied Piper Creamery, Biscuit Love and The Lemon Spot. Battle of Franklin Trust 2012 Summer Concert Series
The Battle of Franklin Trust, which manages The Carter House and Carnton Plantation, will host a three-part concert series at Carnton, 1345 Carnton Lane, Franklin, presented by BancorpSouth. Advance tickets will be available at The Carter House, Carnton Plantation and BancorpSouth in Franklin, 914 Murfreesboro Road. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 6 to 12. General admission at the gate for adults is $12, children 6 to 12 are $5 and children 5 and under are free.
- Sunday, July 29: South Street Players will perform songs made famous in the 1970s.
- August 26: Greez Monkeez will play hits made famous in the 1980s.
All concerts are 6 p.m.-8 p.m. with gates opening at 4:30 pm. Patrons are also encouraged to bring lounging items such as chairs or blankets. Information: battleoffranklintrust.org.

Treehouses: Great Works of Literature
Cheekwood has selected seven designers for its 2012 summer outdoor exhibition. Opening Memorial Day weekend, Treehouses focuses on great works of literature with whimsical and traditional Treehouses in the landscape at Cheekwood. This exhibition celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the first summer exhibition at Cheekwood, Terrific Treehouses. Previous exhibitions also include Playhouses and Forts, Big Bugs and, most recently, Happily Ever After. Information: Cheekwood.org.
